Anybody know anything about a Old S&W 41?

Be prepared to not believe your targets. You will find tiny groups if you do your part. One of the best ever.
I know I posted this in the wrong section, but that is one good looking model 41. That bright blue is so beautiful. I just wish it didn’t have that ugly comp hanging on the end of it.

That is a good price on that. 41 is the best shooting .22s I’ve ever had in my hands.

Always Wanted one, but they were either beat up at around $900 or $1300+ for a very clean example, it’s a older version, but I prefer older guns

I paid $850 for my 5.5” here in Ca a few months ago. Seller reduced the price from $1,000 after it sat for quite a while. Only flaw is a scratch on one side.

I bought a replacement recoil and hammer spring and four additional magazines from S&W, good to go!

I would add that vintage 41 to the flock in a hot minute.

Stay safe.

Your 41 Looks DOPE!! nice short barrel too

No… they flat out said NOPE! @ $600 👎🏿 think I offend them

dang! think I’m pushing my luck

You can sell that upper on Ebay, buy any of the shorter barrels and turn a profit on the deal.

My opinions on 41s are pretty well known here, but it is a good looking example at a good price if you really want to try one.
the Shop is full of nice people, and I said I would pay $900, Don’t want to burn my bridges. They always call me when they get in an estate, and it’s always high quality stuff.

I’m going to keep the 41 together as a Vintage piece. Probably look for a more modern one if it can out shoot my High Standard Supermatic

Aside from Ebay, M41 uppers come up for sale at Rimfire Central regularly too if you want to add a shorter barrel down the road.

We have what had been my father-in-law's competition Model 41 from the 60s or 70s (not sure exact date). I needed to replace some parts of the rear sight. It seems that the current S&W parts are not the same, and it took months of detective work by a gunsmith in Houston to find the right screws and springs. That said, it was his favorite and when she ws still shooting at the range my wife's very most favorite. Sweet pistol!
Congrats on the find.

Clark in LA can make you an excellent replacement upper if you want one which is shorter, threaded, and has a rail on top. They make them in other configurations also, nice, different option to the longer one which is on that pistol (which is great I think).

Taking my 41 to the range in the morning. $900 is a deal for what I see there. $600 offer was......

yeah… I feel bad about Lowballing like that, made it up by paying asking price

i’ve been looking for a model 41 for a long time. Especially the classic model with the bright blueing. but this one comes with a comp, and I don’t like the way it looks. What do you guys think about this? comes with one mag, no box, blueing is absolutely beautiful

they want $900

I'd love to have one of those with the compensator. It is removable, and $900 for that pistol is a steal. Not sure of the exact age, the SN's started at 1001 in 1954 and went to115000 in 1970, so it's a late 1950's-early 1960's and the barrel length is 7-3/8". When the compensator was dropped, the barrel was standardized to 7", and there are 5" field barrels available and will fit your gun. There was a 5" barrel at one time that had an extendable front sight, it slid out in front of the muzzle and gave the same sight radius as the 7" barrel. I have a 7" model from 1985. It has the best trigger of any pistol I've ever shot. Mine was new in the box when I bought it from a retired Army Special Forces guy I know. He told me he bought it new and never had time to shoot it, and finally just stored it away. I gave $1200 for it.

If you buy it and look for more magazines, try to find ones with the steel follower. Newer ones have plastic followers.

To field strip these, you lock the slide back, then pull down on the front of the trigger guard to unlock the parts. The barrel will lift straight up and off. Then pull back on the slide until it clears the rear of the frame and the rails separate, then ift up on the back and ride it forward until the recoil spring tension is released. Reassembly is the reverse.

I’m going down a Dark 41 Rabbit hole here! SN looks to be in the 29,000

Let’s see if it can shoot better than my High Standard Supermatic. Now that’s a shooter! Feed reliability if I keep it wet with RemOil. Put’s hole on top of each other. That’s my Gold Standard for a good .22 Target

Yes, it is a factory comp, so is the way it should be.

I haven't tried the new S&W mags, but Midway has them for $27ea;

Link to the upper Clark makes if you want something shorter, threaded, which takes a dot; or, they make it in other configurations also;
Is nice to have a long and short upper I think, plus, one with iron sights and another with a dot as my eyes go.

$27! heck yeah, good price. I have not been in the mood for a Red Dot for a few years. I have them, But I consider them cheating, too easy to shoot good with an optic. Iron sights is where the challenge is!
