Anybody know this cartridge ??

    I got a batch of rimless, tapered, primed rifle brass that I have no idea what it is. Here's some dimensions :
    Lgth. : 1.74"
    Dia. @ rim : .374
    Dia. just before the neck : .356 (IOW the taper is .018")
    OD Neck : .301
    ID Neck : .283 +/- .001

    Head stamp : L C 7 4

    I can't find anything like it in my books so I was hoping someone out there has seen this brass before.

    It's Lake City military, all right, but what cartridge is it?

    Sounds to me like someone made a 7mm-223 wildcat.

    Thanks RecoilRob.... you hit it right on the money. I just found it on a website by using your suggestion.
    It was developed in 1980 for the Thompson Contender for varmints. They necked up a .223 Rem.
