I'm back in the sks game after being out for many years. Since then, my favorite rear sight, the Williams peep, seems to have been discontinued and vanished. Does anybody have one in a drawer or know of a source?

If the Williams sight you seek is like the middle sight in my pic below, it's a piece of junk.

On my Norinco SKS, I've had the Williams and Mojo in place of the original tangent rear sight. The original sight is well built and stable. The Mojo is well built and stable.

The Williams is an poorly designed device with the front of the sight slipping under a spring pin. It wobbles with every shot. I wouldn't be surprised if it could pop out by itself while firing. I've had good results with many other Williams sights, but this one is a complete let down.

If you really want a rear peep, but don't want a TechSight, get a Mojo. https://www.mojosights.com/sample-page/ak-sks/

The Mojo is the one mounted on the gun in the pic below.

that mojo sight might be just the ticket. I'm less sad the williams are gone if they are junk. I remember having one as a kid and liking it fine. and it was onyl $20 which has appeal. the mojo looks more like $75.

found some more pictures of it. https://imgur.com/a/frUa0Zl

I have other Williams sights that are just fine. A pair of 5Ds and a WGRS. Too bad the SKS sight wasn't built as well as those sights.

OP, I made a peep sight for my Turk Mauser out of a spare rear sight, not the original. I cut a groove perpendicular to the length of the rear sight immediatley in front of the rear sight notch w/ a Dremel them soldered a small washer in place then cold blued it and it works dandy. I know it is not a Williams, but it was free and it works as well as the Williams I have on my Swede Mauser. It has stayed in place for decades and thousands of rounds.

i have one on my SKS and it is great but the peep part keeps working itself loose

I might bite the bullet and switch to tech sights. The Williams is small and lightweight but the screw to hold it on is just pushing down on the on the plate so even loctite doesn't seems to add much. It isn't very adjustable either
