Anybody with Marlin Camp 9 experience?

I broke down and bought a Camp 9 just because it looks like fun. I am still waiting for delivery so I have been reading internet reviews.

There seem to be two consistent pieces of advice. These are to fit a heavier recoil spring and a brand new recoil buffer.

I can see that "old stock" recoil buffers may have lost their resilience so a new buffer is a good idea. I wonder about the spring. Surely it would not have been a problem for Marlin to fit a stronger spring if they thought it was necessary.

Does anybody have any practical, hopefully "before and after", experiences with these mods? Would appreciate any input - thanks.

I had one and sold it soon after.
It requires a lot of cleaning to keep it running and is a bit tricky to reassemble.
But it is a good, well balanced and accurate firearm.

The buffers tend to fall apart after a while. The bolt slams into it on every shot. The stronger recoil spring lessens the abuse on it. Buy a couple buffers and consider them a wear item. www.brownells.com has them.

And yes, it's a very accurate and handy carbine. Best of luck with it!
