Anyone buy a Girsan MCP35 recently?

I'm heavily considering it as I don't want to spend the cash for a vintage Browning but I'd like o have a BHP experience at the range. The Girsan is inexpensive and reviews have been great other than the heavy and gritty trigger which I can do some gunsmithing to make into a decent trigger with a little effort.

Would like to hear about experiences owning this pistol, if you have one.

I've got 2 of them. A standard one and a pi. Both good guns. Basically a clone of the Browning mk3 p35. I carry the pi on occasion. If you can find one in your areaI've heard good things about the Inglas p35 as well.

I purchased the MCP 35 Match…

I wanted the extended beavertail as I take a fairly high purchase on a handgun and occasionally get “slide glide”…

I also did not want the tactical underlug rail on the frame (personal preference)….

The trigger is not A-1 material but suits my needs just fine. You say you have the ability to caress it, so you should be good..

It’s a good shooter, feels good and fills/fits MY hand well. I like the fiber optic front sight and the black rear sight picture.

I believe you won’t be sorry about that purchase… :)

Have a two tone that I upgraded with some parts from bhspringsolutions. Ran great both before and after upgrades. Very faithful clone.

Haven't had a malfunction yet. Use 15 round mec-gar flush fit mags. I have probably a thousand rounds through it over 3 years.

I got 2 of them, a standard and PI model. Both have had no issues and by removing the magazine safety, the trigger is vastly improved. Not quite as nice as my SA35 or ‘61 FN Hi-Power but that could be accounted for in that Girsan uses the later MkIII design with a firing pin safety the other 2 lack. Yes, you have to compress the spring to move the block up out of the way for the firing pin block but on the other hand, you have a more drop-safe design with the Girsan models.

i went to a public auction some time ago with mostly rifles and shotguns being offered, but their were a few handguns. it seemed not many bidders were interested in the handguns and bought a mauser model 80 in 9mm in ex used condition (hi power clone) with no magizine safty and ring hammer with a very nice trigger pull serial number 80035xx for 225.00, i have close to 200 rounds thru it with no problems at all. also i bought a mint yugo 7.62x25 for 150.00.

I bought one around 6 months ago. Works great, I have put around 1k rounds through it and cleaned it every time. Has not given any problems at all.

A buddy has one; don't like it as well as my SA-35, but the price was significantly less. Seem to recall his had a dummy dent for the magazine safety on the trigger, but no mag safety. Not sure about the firing pin safety.
Been running both MecGar 15s and older OEM 13's, without a problem.
BTW, recall when I got the first of several BHPs, back in the day, when it was one of the few 'full cap' handguns that dodged the Clinton ban...any available magazines were $40@, back when $40 was real money.

I got one of the HP MK-3 Inglis L9A1 clones a bit ago and prefer it over any of the Browning HPs I have had as it has a fantastic trigger. Its close to the pull on my made in 1918 colt 1911. Plus was under $500 too.
