I hunted 5 days in SW Louisiana (saturday thru Wednesday) and shot 11 teal. limit is 6 per day. not many teal migrated to my hunting areas yet? Weather has been hot, humid and calm. I did limit out on mosquitos!

Season is open until 30th of sept. so maybe a few will arrive before it closes.

Did anyone have better luck?

I just cannot get into duck hunting in 100 degree heat. LOL Well, it was low 90s yesterday, but the heat index was over 100 and just going outside turned me into a sweat ball. I can't imagine being in waders. LOL That and the gators keep the dog at home, so I just sorta quit teal hunting all together.

The waterfowl clubs on the other side of the woods are lighting it up, though. Nothing close to us, but you can hear 'em in the distance blasting away. They're killin' something, not sure what. Might be cottonmouths.

It was very hot and humid but I got out of there after 8:30 am! my waders were exceptionally warm and they are not neopreme!! I am a diehard duck hunter but I have my limitations!!!

Well, I'm getting more and more limited in what I can do with regards to wading in muck. I plan to break out the canoe. I'll just hunt Buffalo Lake this season a couple of times, maybe. I'm really looking forward to booking a goose hunt or two, though. :D Yes, die hard, but when it gets TOO hard, I'm a wimp.

I used to duck hunt all the time but quit when I turned 72. Too much work at too early an hour. My dog also got old and couldn't do the heavy work anymore like breaking through 100 yards of matted pads after a wounded duck.
But, what really finished me was all the rude wannabe Duck Commander newbies who know nothing of the ethics of waterfowling.

"Duck Commander newbies" I have heard this before, supposed to be much worse in north LA!! I try not to hunt public areas if possible. I mostly hunt private leases and so we don't have that problem. I am 67 and know what you mean a man has to know his limitations!!!

When I lived in Oklahoma I had a flooded timber spot to duck hunt and a darned good retriever to hunt with. We, the dog and my wife, had some great hunts there over the years.Teal season was a fun, and tasty, way to start plus they had more meat on them than doves.
Then we moved to Kansas and the teal don't stop much on the farm ponds around me.
After the dog died I pretty much gave up waterfowl hunting.

From the age of 14 I lived and breathed duck hunting. Lots of places on the Texas coast that one can hunt without a lease, unlike deer hunting which is mostly private and was ALL private when I was a kid. I've sorta mellowed on deer, like to shoot hogs, but I'd trade either for ducks and geese. BUT, it's a lot easier to stumble back into the woods to my box blind or ladder stand than wade into the marsh with a marsh chair, deeks, shotgun, ammo and in waders.
