Anyone else noticed AR's don't seem as plentiful on gunstore shelves?

HELLO FROM TEXAS,,i'm a68 yr.ole man`in TEXAS where every pick up truck carried an AR type rifle to protect our livestock and when the mass shootings started,,everyone that had the money ran out and loaded up on AR's and thousands of rounds of ammo,,and i'll bet you a baby calf,, not one person even knows what AR stands for..they were called ASSAULT RIFLES,,AMERICAN RIFLE...when the school shooting's started and other massive murder's started,,every man and women took their food money and ran out and bought an AR style rifle..i saw on one day at the rifle,,no less than 20 grown men tried to show their family how to protect the home land with a rifle..the gun stores could not keep them on stock..the prices started at 1800 dollars and if a person wanted a more fancy rifle,,you had to have DEEP pockets..saw a man spend over 3,000 dollars,,and the man behind the counter kept showing the poor bastard more do-hickeys and gizmo's that the would be able to hit a target half away..good by a paycheck..for 1 year the main squirrel in the white house helped more gun shops and dealer's rich..sad...the AR on the RIFLE stands for ARMALITE RIFLE which was the man's name who created and develop the weapon..the AR that sold for 2800.00 or more can now be bought for less than 750.00.. during or after a hurricane the same chain saw and emergency generators can be bought for less than 50% of what they cost...LONG LIVE PAWN SHOPS....

You owe me a baby calf.

There's no shortage of AR type rifles on the shelves here yet.

I have not seen a shortage in AR 15 rifles. However if HRC is elected the entire National supply will be bought up in a matter of hours.

No shortage on rifles around E/SE Missouri yet, but .223/5.56 has started disappearing very quickly......and prices are starting to rise too. But, as always, I digress....:scrutiny:

Seen plenty of AR's last Saturday. Seen plenty of people handling them too, I don't know how many bought, I was busy taking care of what I needed. I asked one of the salesmen and he said there has been a little uptick with "election nerves", but he didn't imply anything alarming.

If the Dem's win, there will be another run, and maybe the final run. I have heard their plans from interviews, not just speculators trying to guess.

.22 LR has gone up $1.00 per hundred on CCI MINI Mags in the past 3 weeks.

No shortage here. LGS has plenty at just slightly elevated prices from a month or so ago. He has been having trouble getting M&P10s though.

Small local gun show this past weekend had a couple dozen sale for, including mine. Prices were all in the $650 range. I had to lowball mine to get a buyer...

Mr. Goodhope Farmer may not be writing in your special dialect but some of us get it. We've discussed quite a bit of what he points out - in a panic people were paying far too much for guns they had no idea about. The average buyer would just as soon tell you John Colt invented it - you know, Sam's grandson.

And there is a form of humor where you lay out a mistaken "fact" to see if those standing around pick up on it. Separates the sheep from the goats. Doesn't translate well in the written word but we do it all the time where I work. It's easy enough when the average consumer comes in to see if they have enough background to handle what kind of repair they might need. It's not like Mr. Farmer said "them Chevies is all the same, ya know."

Welcome to the forums, some of us can read the spoken word and understand it. As for AR's and panic buying - after two major runs on guns due to the fear of government overreach, not so much. Those that wanted one got one and those that won't stand to defend the Constitution are likely going to be single issue voters - based solely on gender.

This doesn't stop on Nov 8, it starts to get serious on the 9th and it's not over til it's over.

Unfortunately we have quite a few people from my home state who perpetuate the Texan stereotype.

I thought the designer was named A.R. Stoner, good to know it was Eugene Armalite. So where does Eugene Stoner fall into the picture? Are all these guys related? Back home in Crack Whore Hollow names get pretty confusing too.

Eugene Stoner? Never heard of him. Was he the guy that invented that thingy you tap on the side?

No tapping something on the side has been going on a lot longer than that...........

Don't know about the rest of the country, but gun shows here are dominated by ARs. Majority of tables will have them and parts are plentiful. Got one in Conroe, TX this weekend where I expect to pick up some parts and supplies. Currently doing some minor stockpiling in case of another panic. Got all I need, but like having a few extra in case a awesome trade deal presents itself after the election. During one of bhos earlier panics, I could have traded a AR for a pristine Colt Python. Was not prepared for that at the time, I am now. Will not let a deal pass like that again. Remember some folks prefer legal face to face/person to person sales on these rifles and tend to be willing to pay a premium for that.

There are roughly 24 million persons that are in the ages of 18 - 21. Each year a large number of persons become old enough to purchase their first firearm for their self. If a little less than half are males (yes, men buy more than women) that leaves around 11 million. If 10% buy a firearm that is one million each year. I doubt 10% have bought firearms, so that means that there are a bunch that may have been putting things off. The next generation might be the biggest contributor in my opinion. Those that were old enough to buy have already bought. In that group there were those that waited till the panic set in and paid way too much, but when you are not prepared that is how it goes. Now some of those would like to get their money back and probably hope for another panic buying spree so they can sell, because they have decided that they really wouldn't use a firearm or that they think it will be made illegal and will not have any value and they would rather have cash, many many reasons.

So, if you are an enthusiast, whether it be hunting or range shooting, you should be prepared. If you are in the new generation that can finally buy, you should buy what you want when you can.

If you are of the mindset that it is your civic duty to be prepared if there is a call to stop an enemy either foreign or domestic you should already be prepared.

So, in summary, I think there are a lot of people that are now old enough to buy that haven't, and are now just considering the ramifications of certain politics and are on the fence to buy. A panic is what might get them off the fence. It is a potential that I advise everyone to avoid by buying what you need when you need it.

My prediction: There will be a month of brisk business after Hilldabeast gets elected, but I don't think there will be a return to anything even close to resembling a Sandy hook level panic, unless/until there is some actual legislation out there that has a chance of passing. I suspect that manufacturers of anything and everything AR-related over reacted, produced MILLIONS of rifles, parts, magazines, etc, in response to the Sandy Hook panic, and that is why the prices for the last couple years have been lower in absolute and relative terms than I have ever seen in my ~15 years of AR ownership.

EVERYONE and their brother bought two as soon as they could, not long ago. I think the market is relatively saturated and panic-ed out, but I guess we'll see.

A return of prices to what they were during the Bush years may happen, but again, that isn't near panic level, it is just normal vs. the incredibly low prices we see today.

yeah, I noticed the same thing - '' less full shelves of AR's ".
we all need to go and buy 4, 5 maybe 6 more - each one of us
just in case "you-know-who" wins elections, and people start panicking and then they will clear the shelves.
So let's be preemptive and pre-panic buyers.
p.s. also, with that you will need 100,000 rounds of ammo - all of my friends are taking reversed mortgages

Talking to a friend the other day, he explained his AR collection to me.

If it comes to it, he has:

Some to register,
Some to turn in,
Some to hide,
Some to sell during a panic for huge profit.

And none of his rifles fall into more than one category above, LOL.

I thought I was ahead of the game until that conversation. Now I am behind the proverbial 8-Ball, and did not even know it.........................
