anyone familiar with the Miami Rifle and Pistol Club?

I'm particularly interested in shooting on the 600 yard range but I've never even been to the club. It's just the only club in the area with a range that long. Being an old and not so healthy guy shooting prone is something I'm not particularly interested in. What I'd like to know is if they have any setup to shoot on the 600 yard range other than shooting prone.

500/600 Yard Certification
Members or Competitors not qualified to shoot from the 600 yard firing point must complete the certification class before competing in the 600 yard match.

Three certification classes are scheduled for 2013.
3/30/13, 6/22/13, and 11/16/13.

Classroom instruction will start at 9am and will consist of a short introduction and questions. Each student will have to shoot prone at 300 yds to establish a good zero and then will be required to adjust for 600 yds. In order to qualify a student will have to be on target in 2 shots and then put 10 shots in the scoring rings on a standard 600 yd target from the prone position. If the student uses a rest they will only be certified to shoot 600 yds with a rest. If the student doesn’t qualify they may attend the next class and try again.

It appears to be worth checking out.

Yeah I've read the web site and I've talked to people and it doesn't appear they have anything for shooting on the 600 yard range except shooting prone. I was hoping maybe I was wrong about that but it doesn't appear to be the case. They claim to be the only club that has a 600 yard range but the club I was in before I moved has one. It's about 150 miles away from the Miami club. And they have shooting tables there. Oh well. I'll probably just buy my own portable table and join anyway. It's way too far to drive back to my old club.

I used to be a member there before I moved. Very nice facility. I haven't been there in about five years, but from what I understand they've made even more improvements. At the time I joined you had to contribute eights hours time for various projects. I helped out with an action pistol match, it was pretty fun. Keep's out the riffraff. No .50BMG, at least at that time.

CZ before you buy a table, you may want to ask if you can use it at their line after you go through the qualifications.
You gotta be referring to the Manatee club. A while back before they opened the 600 berm to 1000 yards, I had to get permission to shoot prone. Go figure. There are plenty of ranges that don't want prone shooting.Good Luck

I talked to them about shooting there and they said I would be able to practice as long as the range wasn't closed or in use but the idea of having to haul a table with me has discouraged me from even joining. The range back where I lived before is getting their own 600 yard range going. It should be open by now actually. It's not that much farther than the Miami club. So I withdrew my application. They want too much money IMO and they don't offer as much as my old club does. And the dues at my old club are about half of the dues at Miami. They keep buying up new land too. They have so much land they don't even know what they want to do with it. They have a tremendous amount of money in reserve there plus I have my friends there. I go there fairly often anyway (to the area). I'll just take my guns and shoot there when I'm in the area.

BTW my old club has never been much for web sites. They apparently don't want to attract new members via the site. They barely give you any contact info. I think they're pretty happy with the way things are there and don't want a flood of new members.
