i'm curious because i want to grab one for deer season or just for the heck of it..

Performance wise? good? bad? Mind sharing the price and where you got it from?

I was looking at the Model 1 6.8 spc 24" for $525.. not bad..?

Oh yeah, perfomance is good. What ranges do you plan on shooting? Scope or redot? etc?

Silver State Armory has great ammo. I've had good luck with Bison Arms and AR performance. Rainier Arms makes a 6.8 upper with a rifle length Daniel Defense lite FF rail with a very good 16" WOA barrel for under $1000.

Check specs carefully. You want the 6.8 SPC II with 1 in 11 or slower twist, 6 lands or less. Only that combination get you the higher velocity and ability to use the faster SSA loads.

Avoid 6.8 Remington spec chambers or twists of 1 in 10 if the best specs are what your prefer. Most vendors no longer support the older version. Check the 68forums for more info who carries uppers and pricing. It's a friendly helpful crowd, you get the first look at products, new ammo, and what is coming.

Bison, White Oaks, American Spirit, and about two dozen others offer uppers and barrels in 6.8. You are going to have fun sorting out just exactly what you want.

You may want a Noveske when you get that far, it's pretty deep at that end.

Welcome to the advanced stages of EBR, Bwahahahahahah
