It shares many Glock-like features (like trigger safety and slide dis-assembly lever), but has "double strike" trigger, ambidextrous safety/slide lock/mag release, exchangeable back strap (3 sizes), metal magazine/mag release and conventional land/groove rifling. The grip angle looks more like my PT145Pro which has a more "natural" point of aim (similar to 1911 grip angle).

Looks like Glock/M&P had a fling and had a baby! :D Would like to try one.

I've never been interested in Taurus' pistols before, but my ears definitely perked up when I saw these introduced.

Oh yeah! I am waiting to feel and see the G2 compact. It should be very interesting. I really like the double strike capability and the decocker mode.

I know i want one... the only thing that frustrates me is they sacrificed a couple rounds in the 45 from the original 24/7 oss from 13 to 11 rounds... not that big of a deal though.. still want one.

Maybe the mags are interchangeable? Maybe an adapter or mag mod?

Has anyone seen or shot one yet? Very curious to its performance.

Wow, that's a lot of good things in one gun design IMHO. I hope it lives up!. Specifically, I personally like the following:

    -Like the DA/SA trigger
    -Like double strike capability
-I like to work a lot on off-hand shooting. It looks to me in the photos like that thing has ambidextrous everything, not just a mag release. I like that.
-I like that it has an external safety (and manual Decocker!) AND trigger safety
-It's a Taurus, so I'm hoping that I'm going to really like the price :)

If someone hears about or touches this one, I hope they share. Did they share an MSRP yet?

$370 locally, with the shiny slide. I am looking at one for my wife. Really liked the trigger pull compared to her Kel-Tec.

LongRifle-that's in reference to the 809 right?

The 800 series are in the wild right now, haven't seen the G2s anywhere yet.

Between the new 24/7 G2, the new PT800 series and the 24/7 OSS Taurus has a bunch of guns that out that all seem very similar.

The 800 series are out, but for 2010 Taurus is introducing "Compact" version of the exisitng "full-size" pistols. Oddly, though, Taurus seems to castrated the ambidextrous control out of the 800 Compact series. Personally, I prefer the hammer-fired 800 series to the striker-fired 24/7 series, but not having ambi controls kills the deal for me.

This is especially odd, since Taurus added full ambi controls to the 24/7 G2.

BTW, the 24/7 G2 has the same style ambidextrous magazine release (release hole cut into the center of the magazine, instead of at the corners) as the current 800 series. So I am guessing the G2 will have a better chance of magazine compatibility with the 800 series, than the current 24/7 line. But we won't know for sure unitl they are released.

I talked to TaurusUSA CS last week and was told they've only seen a few prototypes so far. The new models probably won't see daylight unitl 4th quarter of 2010.

There is no question that Taurus seems to have a bunch of similar guns and odd overlap in some models. I assume we are in a transition between lines.

That price was in reference to the 24/7.

LongRifle - Got it. The 24/7, but obviously not the G2 version of the 24/7 that's not out yet.

Even though we won't see the G2 until 4qtr, have they set or shown an MSRP info on it yet?

CSKNY - You are correct. Sorry for the confusion.
