anyone like Makarov's?

I like the two I have but it is not my favorite in 9x18. Very reliable and comfortable in the hand, I just prefer a CZ82 in 9x18.
I have the CZ83 in .32, .380 and 9x18 and the CZ82 in 9x18.
Good guns.:)

The used CZ82 price, like the Mak, is climbing fast. I haven't seen any, in decent shape, at the gun shows for under $275 in a while.

They're lots of fun. I have a Baikal, Russian military PM, East German, and Bulgarian (so far).

Also have the Polish p-64 and p-83, as well as the Czech CZ-82.

I love the round, I think it's an excellent combination of power, controlability, fast follow up shots, in a small, light, simple blowback action pistol. This round was developed very deliberately, and I believe the FMJ's will tumble when hitting something of variable density, like a body and not like a gelatin block. One nice thing about the round is the FMJ offers plenty of penetration if that floats your boat, or go HP if you are worried about over-penetration. I buy HP's for $11/50 at CTD.

And it seems both the real Maks and their Warsaw pact relatives are reliable by all accounts I've read. I have a CZ-82, a sweet shooter that one, and a PA-63 which got springs to reduce flip and get the DA trigger into a reasonable comfort zone. They are both very nice, the PA is a carry piece and has never had a FTF or FTE in 1000 rounds. The CZ has one magazine it likes, and one it doesn't, but with the right mag the FTE is about once in 500 rounds. They both seem to like my near max reloads a lot.

And I will be looking for a P-64, P-83, or a real Mak in the future. The quality of the build vs. the cost is outstanding.

I had an IJ-70 for a few years (Russian commercial Mak w/ adj rear sight) and found it good enough, though now that I have a CZ-82, I recommend that you look into the CZ before purchasing a Makarov. It offers a tremendous amount of features for the price of, or less than, the PM.

Regardless of what disciples of the 9x18 say, it is essentially a slightly hot .380acp in power and performance and much closer to a .380 acp than a 9x19 in energy.
The hottest commercial 9x18 has just about half the energy of the hottest 9x19. I don't use so-called +P rounds in either of my 9x18s (CZ-82 & P64) as I'm not seeking to make these pistol into something they're not.

That said, if you're content with the level of performance similar to a .380 acp, just about any 9x18 will make for a good carry pistol. A 95gr JHP/FMJ to the noggin will stop most attacks and I doubt many would shrug off hits COM either.
I carried the incredibly thin P64 in "Thunderware" (yes, seriously) while on vacation in Myrtle Beach for a couple weeks and didn't feel inadequately armed.

My take on the Makarov itself is that it's a durable, reliable and accurate pistol chambered for a marginally adequate cartridge capable of doing its job if you do yours.

I saw this one at GM today, from the research I've done it looks to be an east German 1961 model. It has some messed up stamping on the one side that reads something - Germany. There are no import marks. It comes with holster and 2 mags. Most of the ones I looked at have black grips. It was in pretty good shape for $250. I think I'll go for it in any case. Are the grips mis-matched?
all I had was the phone for pics:
