Anyone own a Charles Daly Tactical 12 gauge?

A friend offered me one of these for sale, and I'm not at all familiar with them. Does anyone own one? It looks just like any other 18.5", synthetic stock home defense 12 gauge pump shotgun.

Any good or bad experiences with them? How reliable? How accurate? How easy to use? How are the controls? Choke? Trigger? Aftermarket support/parts?

Any info is appreciated. Sorry for all the questions!

I've no experience with the CD pump, but had a bad experience with the auto. Pretty much soured me on the brand. Made in Turkey. Reputation for problems and not too good customer support.

If I remember correctly they use the Remchoke system so all remington chokes will fit. Aftermarket support and parts beyond chokes is likely non existent.

Depending on how much money your friend wants for the gun you may be able to get a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 express for not much more.

Thanks. That's good to know. I was leaning toward a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, but he offered to sell me his CD for a song. But if it's not reliable, I'd rather spend a little more on a better gun.

The CD pump is reliable but CD is known for poor customer service. The shotguns coming out of Turkey now are excellent made guns. The Turkish manufactures are now using CNC machines to make their guns. They are now very consistent excellent quality guns. The older ones it was a hit or miss. Not so any more. I have a Marlin H&R Excel Auto 5 made in Turkey semi auto shotgun. It is an excellent shotgun. Their Pardner Pump Protector HD shotgun is excellent also. Marlin H&R NEF has very good customer service.

I guess what it boils down to is do you trust your friend. Would he sale you a lemon.

Like Max said, though, if you trust your friend wouldn't sell you a lemon then it may be a good gun. Quality on CD guns was really hit or miss there for awhile and the problems I had were with a Multimag 3.5" auto. It liked to light strike primers and fail to fire. I've not heard of the same issue with the pumps.

The biggest drawback would be CD's customer service if you have a problem. Reputation for long waits and run arounds even though they have a lifetime warranty. It also is not as easy to get extra barrels/stocks and such.

But if it's available for a song............

I looked at one recently and I thought it was worth the money, but and I hate to say this, because I hate when others say it, a Mossberg was only a little more, and I know Mossbergs are good guns. IF I had just enough to buy the CD, I'd probably go for it, but with the Mossberg so close in price, if I had the extra money, I'd probably get that.

If it's avaliable at a good price, and it seems tight, I'd probably take the chance buying it from someone I know. See if he'll let you shoot it a few times and see what you think. If he balks at that, walk away.

I have had the CD Field Tactical for some time. It's treated me well. The only thing is that it's hard to find any accessories. Does anyone know if there is a tactical stock available for it? Or would a Mossberg or Remington aftermarket stock fit?
