I don't know how they "reimagined" it and left that hole in the side......... Hard pass for me, I guess they are real slow learners. And, if the market takes the downturn I am expecting I think they will regret doing things like that.

I looked at a real Heavy Duty once, but didn't buy it.
My Outdoorsman with adjustable sights is very fine, though.

That HD would be killer in 38-40

I think it looks handsome.

Like some others, I already have .357s aplenty.
And the N-frame is probably a bit large for my hands at the end of the day.
I didn't really get into larger guns here until relatively recently...


Besides that, the MSRP is pretty stout. For me and for what it is, anyway. YMMV.

New S&W Heavy Duty

My apologies if this has been asked-and-answered previously, but I saw something new-to-me while browsing the aisles at the local gun show recently: what appears to be a new rendition of the S&W H-D chambered in .357 Magnum. Link to the mothership website listing below. The gun I saw...

I remain intrigued but, as stated by other members, it would be nice for the lock to go away (as S&W has now demonstrated it’s willing and able to do with various efforts like the “new” 36s, 10s, and the latest Mountain Guns).

For me, before I'd spend $1549 on the new Mod 20, I would buy a good, used Mod 28-2 with 4in barrel.

I'll keep my 1952 .38/44 Heavy duty as I prefer .38 Special over .357 magnum anyway. But it is a very beautiful handgun, and if it didn't have the lock it would sell quickly.

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps they are not making many of the model 20. Regardless, I won’t be getting one.
