There is a really nice (used) Browning A Bolt Eclipse up at the LGS.

It is in 308. Has the heavy Stainless barrel, Laminated heavy wood stock with thumb hole. No BOSS system. Seems like a varmint set up but that's a big caliber for that??. Heavy rifle to hump around with.

I was thinking more of a target gun?

Are they good rifles (Eclipse) I know Browning makes good stuff but are they worth the price for their name??

Thanks for any input.

they are some of the best off the shelf bolt guns you can buy. Mine outperforms higher dollar Kimbers and custom rigs. What is the shop asking for theirs?

It is this rifle only with a stainless barrel, no BOSS system. They want a little over half price. $600 range. No optics.

I guess my concern is how much I will shoot it as a range gun,and what the purpose of this gun set up is? It is too heavy to hunt with unless you are just sitting.
And as a varmint gun there are smaller calibers that will do the job? I have a 223 Varmint in almost the same set up which is easy to reload and does not beat me up. I reload, so ammo is not an issue

I have some good scopes I can take off other guns
