anyone try the newer IMR powders like unequal,or target ?
have not seen any reviews on these yet maybe they are still to new but there sure are a handful of new powders out

I've used some Target. Appears to have good accuracy potential in 9mm and 45.

I am doing IMR Target/Red/Green comparison testing with Vectan Ba 9.5/AS/Ba 9 along with Shooters World/Lovex powders - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-and-vectan-ba-9-5-ba-9.817796/#post-10490012

IMR Target chrono data from Glock 22/KKM conversion barrel:

RMR 115 gr FMJ @ 1.130":
4.0-4.1 gr: 1008-981-991-1023-1034 fps
4.2-4.3 gr: 1049-1053-1067-1055-1085 fps
4.5-4.6 gr: 1162-1166-1138-1110-1151 fps

RMR 115 gr Hardcore Match RN @ 1.130":
4.0-4.1 gr: 986-1002-1071-975-1002 fps
4.2-4.3 gr: 1024-1054-1030-1036-1030 fps

RMR 124 gr Hardcore Match RN @ 1.145":
4.0-4.1 gr: 959-991-984-986-931 fps
4.2-4.3 gr: 1049-1033-1018-1063-1046 fps

IMR Target is a small flake powder that meters with .1 gr variance in Pro Auto Disk. Based on my initial load development and comparison testing, I find IMR Target to produce accurate loads with comparable and smaller 10 shot groups at 25 yards than most other powders from Bullseye to W231/HP-38 burn rate powders - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-and-vectan-ba-9-5-ba-9.817796/#post-10508215

I will be continuing my testing with scoped Glock 22/KKM and Sig 1911 along with Just Right carbine in 9mm and 45ACP calibers next.

25 yard 10 round shot groups with 17" Just Right carbine: RMR 115 gr FMJ at 1.130" with IMR Target 4.5-4.6 gr (Left), 4.2-4.3 gr (Center) and 4.0-4.1 gr (Right)

From IMR Red load development - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ectan-ba-9-5-ba-9.817796/page-2#post-10520702

Chrono data from Glock 22/KKM conversion barrel:

RMR 124 gr Hardcore Match RN 1.160" OAL:
3.2-3.3 gr: 880-808-734-811-802 fps SD 51 (Did not cycle the slide)
3.4-3.5 gr: 838-840-849-830-770 fps SD 31 (All rounds stove piped)
3.6-3.7 gr: 915-916-895-914-889 fps SD 12 (Cycled the slide)
4.0-4.1 gr: 1000-935-923-917-1022 fps SD 48 (Cycled the slide)

So if you want to load IMR Red for 9mm, you can reference my data instead of going at it blind. I am not sure why Hodgdon did not publish 9mm load data for IMR Red as there are load data for 45ACP. Based on my initial testing, I will be repeating accuracy testing of IMR Red at 3.6-3.7 gr and 4.0-4.1 gr with 124 gr Hardcore Match RN bullets and RMR in-house 124 gr FMJ at shorter OALs without compressing powder charge.

25 yard 10 round shot groups with 17" Just Right carbine: RMR 124 gr Hardcore Match RN at 1.160" with 3.2-3.3 gr (Far left), 3.4-3.5 gr (Mid left), 3.6-3.7 gr (Mid right) and 4.0-4.1 gr (Far right)

I tried Target in a light .357 Mag load. Wasn't impressed with the accuracy, and it sticks in the meter reservoir badly, making it a pain to clean out. Plus it is very dark and hard to see in a deep case. Too many other good choices. I'm sure it is good for something, but that wasn't it.

the reason I ask I shoot 40sw weekly I load 155gr with hs-6 but I am having wrist issues the doc will be treating me for, so I am thinking of trying a new powder with the 155gr I have so many of these stacked up wanting to slow the fps down a bit load some lighter target loads, maybe I should try w231 instead, or wst ? I guess I am kind of hi-jacking my own topic just thinking out loud I guess.
after about 50 rounds with my current load my wrists get tired and my groups open up way more than I like hoping the hands will return to normal but for now
I will try to find a light lighter target powder

some of that 9mm data above shows some 9mm light loads, perhaps I may need to look at getting a 9mm it stinks when our body changes in ways we don't like all the joys of getting older :)

If you don't need to make higher velocities, W231/HP-38 with 180 gr bullet at 3.9-4.3 gr will make lighter than 9mm to 9mm like recoil loads that are still accurate enough.

Anything faster than W231/HP-38/Green Dot and now Alliant's Sport Pistol will generate snappier felt recoil at mid-to-high range load data.

If you like, I could load some lighter IMR Target loads with 165/180 gr bullets and see how the felt recoil is like.

JOJO, The secret to soft recoil is a heavy bullet with a small charge from a fast burning powder. These will not feel as snappy as a lighter bullet. WST probably requires less weight than 231, so it would be the better choice, and combine that with a heavy bullet. Also, a lead bullet requires less powder to reach the same velocity as a jacketed bullet, so that would also help to reduce recoil.
