Anyone with experience with Kel Tec RFB Carbine

I have a few and have worked on more than a few....what do you need to know?
Are they worth the money? Are they reliable, prone to breakage, crappy quality....all of the usual stuff that we want to know when spending lots of money on guns. The gun magazines are great for releasing new info but their range reports are suspect. Of course if anyone wants to pay me massive amounts of money to advertise their products I'll sing their praises too.

Well mine seem to like the 147-150 grain much better than the heavier loads for sure...I am accurate out to 400 yards within "pie plate" diameter no problem (red dot)....that is as far as I have shot mine...I only have about 500 rounds through mine and no issues....I really like the way Kel Tec set these up...mag release is right where you would want it....I guess if I had my magic wand I would raise the rail about a 1/2 inch or so...but it really is OK....quality? It is a machined quality gun...what I mean by that is it isnt a "polished" weapon by any means...it is functional and well built...some of the welds look ****ty.....but like I said...it is functional firstly and they did not spend anytime on "form"....
My little town here has quite a few shooters and we have 3 of these in town.....I am the defacto installer/cusser/cleaner around here...so I have had all three on my bench at one time in the past few months....
There is a shop in San Antonio that I hear has 2 of them...he wants $2000...I wouldnt pay that.....
I guess my overall impression is that Kel Tec built a nice weapon....functional and so far reliable but not worth $2000. I think I paid like $1475 out the door.....and I feel OK about that....helluva hog gun I can tell you that for sure!

I am surprised to see little in the way of conversation over the RFB? This was one of the few threads on THR to actually have RFB in the title.
Who was Kel Tec building this thing for? I take it the civilian market for sure. Don't think any of their products have actually been serious military contract contenders. I have a weird thing about guns in clamshells that come apart by removing a series of screws! And PLASTIC clamshells at that!
I used to have a Kel Tec Sub 2000. Fun gun, but in the end, I prefer firearms that have the backing of years of experience and a design that was intended for serious work. I gave up the Sub 2000 for a Wiselite Sterling. I used to own an actual Sterling manufactured Mk 6. Once I had confidence in my Wiselite, I sold my Sterling at a nice profit and have now put thousands of rounds through my Wiselight 9mm sporter and have had a great experience.
I like a gun that has a proven track record. Even if it is an old MAS 49/56 or Springfield Armory M1A....they have been proven in combat.
I LIKE the concept of the RFB, but am left a little cold by the execution of the design. Not to totally trash Kel Tec , I am sure the engineers put some very good theory into practice. It will just take a while for me to be convinced of that rifles validity.

Great. Every time the uncontrollable urge to buy an RFB subsides, I read about it here and the urge comes back stronger.
