I'm headed home back to Vermont in a few weeks. I started working up a 125gr. Bt load for Chucks. My initial work up produced mostly .5 moa groups! I was wondering if any of you had shot these much and how much range you were getting out of them. I'm guessing around 400 yards. Thoughts?

Haven't gotten a chance to use any on game yet, but I've shot several out to 500yds at an 8'' piece steel. We were shooting the same 125gr Nosler BT through a 20'' .308 & a 16'' 300BLK both of which were mdl700s. Surprisingly enough the 300blk had no issues ringing the steel consistently...ballistics calculator says it's still super sonic at that range. Used Varget, CCI 250 mags, and lapua brass for the 308. I also had a soft-ball tied to a string, hanging at the same distance...I don't know how many inches across they are, but the 308 was noticeably better at hitting it. Could've been the scope/shooter of course.

I have shot some 125 Nosler Ballistic tips recently in my 30-06 and loaded some for the 308. They are very accurate.

A new to me Ruger Express 30-06 made a two shot group of 7/8" at 100 yds the other day and then the next two shots touched at 200 yds! The powder is a moderate load of 3031.

However good luck in getting a shot at a woodchuck in New England!

They coyotes have ruined woodchuck hunting.

Where are you going to hunt in VT?

@Savage99, I'll most likely be hunting chucks around Orleans, Lamoille, and Orange county's. Stopping off in S.C. As well. We'll see how they do on hogs too!
@another Kelly, DAMN! 500 out of a BLK! Guess I never really thought about using a BLK past 50. Thanks for the info fellas! I'm looking forward to using these little screamers.

I think the bullet is plenty accurate enough. I shoot the 125 Nos BT in a 30-30 Contender super 14" handgun. It will do about 3/4" at 100 yds from a sandbag rest. Kills the crap out of deer too!

Out of a .308 rifle, it SHOULD be very accurate and the higher velocity should make it a groundhog killer indeed.

This load shoots! This is 7 shots @ 100 yards. I pulled one while talking to someone. Measured .54 center to center minus the obviously pulled shot. Settled on 48.0 gr of varget, WLR primers in Hornady match cases.
