I want to be able to hopefully load buck and slug rounds at a lower cost than purchasing. Since the volume won't be high is there anything wrong using the the Lee press? Other presses out there that I should consider over the Lee based on what I want to do?

I used one some years ago. They will turn out good ammo. There aren't many adjustments on it but follow instructions and the will work.

You'll probably need to hand or scoop drop the buckshot.

The Lee load-all can make very good loads, albeit slow, when you use the right components.

Since you cannot adjust for crimp or wad seating it might present issues. For the price of a new LLA, you can get a nicely used MEC Jr, far and away a better machine

If all you are going to do is buckshot and slugs, I don't think the Load-All is the right machine. Buckshot, especially the larger sizes usually need to be counted out and stacked in the shell. If your happy with a star crimp, then the Load-all can do that, but if you want a rollcrimp, like on factory ammo, you need some special tools.

For loading birdshot loads, the price is good, but if you are going to be loading lots of different powder and shot charges, the Load-All is a pain. The shot and powder hopper is one piece, and shares a cover: if you want to empty them, its ugly. If you want to change the bushings in the charge bar, you need to empty the hoppers.. The MEC style bottles are much more convenient.

BPI sells specialized equipment for loading buck and slugs. I'd take a look at this stuff:

Depending on what you consider 'low volume of shells' reloading may or may not even be worth the effort?

I've loaded a bunch of slugs and buckshot on a Lee Loadall II. Works fine.

Piece of tubing cut to the right length is an effective way to measure buckshot loads. (Easier than counting).

The only thing that is wrong with my load all is that it is still in the box after having it for over a year. Not due to poor quality just havent had time to do shotshells since I got it.
