Apex Trigger for M&P9

I'm seriously thinking about getting the M&P9 full-size. I love how it feels in my hand and you can't argue with their reputation. I've nevver shot one, bit have heard the stock triiger leaves much to be desired. I've been reading a little bit into the Apex trigger accesoeies and was wondering what you guys are using. There seems Ro be so many options from them that my head starts to spin. I plan on using it as a range toy and will dabble in some competition with it.

So, if you have an M&P9 and have Apex accessories on it, I would love to hear what you recommend.

If I got a M&P, I'd probably get the APEX trigger, just because of some of the issues I've heard of occuring with the hinged trigger.

I don't have an M&P 9 but I do have an M&P 45c which I had the Apex kit installed on. I can tell you that I shoot that gun more accurately than any of my other guns and I own some pretty decent ones (Sig 226, Walther PPQ).

Apex Tactical really only offer two options; The D/CAEK (Duty/Carry) and the FSS (Competition). Most of the options have to do with the D/CAEK

The D/CAEK has a couple of spring choices to suit how light/heavy you are comfortable carrying. There is the option of their RAM, which gives a more discreet reset and the option of a solid trigger (aluminum or polymer) like on the FSS.

Then they offer an optimized 9mm extractor for folks who need them.

It depends on what feel you want/need and if your training will allow you to use the benefits offered.

I usually tell folks to start with the D/CAEK and the RAM.

I have an M&P 9L that I'm running the Apex CAEK (Competition Action Enhancement Kit) in, as well as their RAM. It did wonders for it. Smooths up the trigger pull, vastly improves the reset, and lightened it quite a bit (from 5.75 lbs down to around 2.75 lbs).

Money well spent IMHO. The FSS kit came out after I bought my setup, but I'm personally skipping on it because its not a legal mod for USPSA Production (nor IDPA SSP). In IDPA such a gun is still plenty competitive in ESP but in USPSA it gets put into Limited where it won't really be competitive.

Basically, if you're looking to shoot USPSA with the gun, I'd opt for the CAEK. If you're planning on running IDPA or just looking to trick out the gun without any intention of getting serious with gun games, then I'd go for the FSS.

I have the M&P 9c and I find the trigger to be just fine. People will always try to sell things and make you think you need them. I'd say learn to use the trigger stock and make it work for you instead of spending the coin apex wants for their upgraded parts.

I have a M&P9 and a M&P9C. Both have stock triggers. Out of the box the triggers left a lot to be desired, but after 500 rounds they were much better and continued to improve as the round count went up. They don't need replacement parts, just trigger time.

I have M&P's in full-size and compact in all 4 calibers (9, .357, .40, and .45). The triggers on all have been great, for me, out of the box, except the .45's. I added Apex DCAEK kits to both .45 compacts and my full-size and they made a great improvement. The factory triggers on the .45's were very stiff and gritty compared to the others. I would recommend getting one and putting several hundred rounds through it before you decide to do any upgrades-it may not be necessary.

i've used both in my M&P45 and I have nothing but good things to say, even the customer service was spectacular. I did prefer the DCAEK over the comp kit. Cleaned up the mushy trigger really nice. It was my carry gun so I was hesitant to have the lighter trigger in when i wasnt planning on competing/showing off/eating my words at the range.

I have an M&P9Pro and an M&P9c. The Pro trigger is ok. The 9c trigger was worse than the Pro trigger. I ended up putting the D/CAEK and the RAM on my 9c. Now the trigger on my 9c feels much smoother and crisper than the trigger on my Pro Series.

M&P's also take to the stone real good! My 9 & .45 are good to go.
