This is yet another example of how - even on an isolated island - that gun bans do not work.

I've heard proponents say that the reason a ban didn't work in his/her city/state is because someone can cross state lines and buy it to bring those evil guns into their district. But in island nations those arguments fall short.

They never attempt to explain how a gun ban only disarms those who respect law, while leaving all who don't at their mercy. And I don't expect much mercy from criminals. Those who do are naive fools.

To bad this story won't be on the headlines here any time soon, and too bad the gun grabbers are too blinded by their own idiocy that they won't see it for what it is, proof that they are idiots.

I know its a lot to ask for, but one can hope.

Must be all those guns being hauled in from the EU. The lax laws in the rest of the world have to be fixed.

This is obviously caused by the gunshow loophole here in the states......

Sadly even the most libertarian party here (UKIP) is nowhere near as pro-gun as I would like.

"too many guns, most of them in the wrong hands" is simply untrue.

I don't see how this is possible. Britain banned firearms so no one should have them at all. They are also so much more civilized for getting rid of those blasted things than the United States...I couldn't even type that with a straight face.

I'm pretty sure there are still more legally held firearms than illegal ones.

The idiocy of it all.:banghead: We tried to ban alcohol in the US for a spell and that was even more popular than a gun ban. SO how well did THAT work.:what:

At least the two robbers went home safe and she won't be prosecuted for using deadly force against them. She should thank dad for that.

If a violation of the law indicates that the law isn't working so well, then no laws work well.

    See what I mean?
If I ever hear anymore details of this I'll be sure to add them.
Pretty worrying timing for me - this has happened just as I'm getting serious about trying to get a muzzle loader kit into the country. Legally, he added hastily!

Damn, I thought it was hard enough to legally import a gun from the US.

Well that's disingenuous. Ms. Blair did follow the law and was consequently prevented from using the most effective tool for her own defense. It is self-evident that banning lawful behavior in an effort to prevent (already) unlawful behavior is ludicrous.

It's almost poetic that these guys accosted Blair's daughter, and got away unscathed to terrorize again. LOL.

If she was shot, I wonder how Blair would feel.

If the boy friend had waltzed off with a steak knife from dinner? And stuck it through the gun holders throat?

He would be in jail now!

Laws don't work well. Most people would act exactly the same whether there were laws or not.
