I had acquired a NIB Colt AR15 Carbine, a pre ban model with probably the worst trigger ever seen in a rifle. It broke about 12 lbs and it felt like it was lubed with sea sand. It was almost immpossible to shoot this rifle for groups off a rest and my trigger finger actually hurt after trying to fire 50 rounds. This trigger did not lighten after firing these rounds plus about 200 times dry firing. This trigger had to go! After looking at the selection in the current Brownell's catalog, I selected a drop in trigger by Chip Mccormick; a single stage model set at 3 lbs. It was a simple drop in installation after removing the factory trigger, sear, and selector. Total installation time was less than 10minutes start to finish. Let me tell you would a difference this trigger makes. It breaks like the proverabial glass rod at slightly under 3 lb and has no creep or overtravel whatsoever. This Chip Mccormick trigger was a little on the expensive side but it is one of the best trigeers I have seen. The cost is actually offset by no gunsmith fee for installation. Give it a try!

That's good to hear, as I've got a Chip McCormick trigger sitting in a box upstairs just waiting for a certain lower to arrive.

Another good one, in my experience, is the JARD 2# single stage I've had in a Colt 6520 for somewhere around 2500 rounds now. IIRC the JARD was $135 and the McCormick was $159. The JARD is not a modular unit like the McCormick, but I had no trouble installing it after I figured out which way the spring fit in (hint: take a photo of your original before you pull it out).

Happy trigger pullin'!

I have a colt with the factory "match grade" trigger. It was total trash. I bought a Jewel and love it.

I have a Match use AR-15 set up with a McCormick two stage trigger.

Most of my other AR rifles now have two stage Rock River triggers.

The only complaint I might offer is that I do not like using 'E' clips on firearms as the McCormick trigger utilizes.

Both these trigger systems have so far performed to my satisfaction.

Onmilo: I agree. I didn't like those e clips either but were easy to install with a woodeden dowel to keep from scratching the finish and don't plan on removing the trigger so it's a moot point.

I bought a used JP trigger on line for my armalite for $100, dropped right in, wow what an improvement. It was my first trigger replacement, and now I know why everone does it, its a shame they don`t come from the factory like that.

I have a GA Automatics in my AR-10 and it is one of the (if not the) nicest triggers I have ever used. It is also the most expensive at around $240. I also have the JP rifles one in my other AR-10. The JP is a single stage (GA is two stage) and breaks VERY crisply if installed correctly. I have to say for its price the JP gets my vote. In my AR-15 (RRA Elite CAR A4) I have the standard RRA Two Stage. For the price it is a very nice two stage. There is come creep and some overtravel, but it is very nice to shoot and I can keep pretty good groups.

as a side note I have the JP one that comes in pieces and not the module.

Likewise, I did not like the factory triggers, so both of mine have Jewell two stage triggers. Could'nt be any better!!
