Before spending a single dime on triggers, springs or set screws, remove the trigger from the lower, clean it thoroughly and apply grease to all the sear surfaces, pin holes and the bottom curve of the hammer and shoot it like that for a bit. It may smooth it up enough to not need to do anything else

 

I did not wait to purchase the Del-Ton 2 stage as mentioned earlier here, it really sort of fit the bill price wise, and design wise for me, plus I feel like Del-Ton has never let me down.
But the LaRue I probably would have bought if I had waited too.
I have several Geissele and I feel those are the standard by which others are judged. To me as good as it gets but not all projects set out to be expensive ones.

I am intrigued by the Ellfman sp? triggers look REAL nice. And of course I know Timney is quality.
I am a little against special pins and set screws ( a little less bothered by set screws).

A JP spring kit, a stone and a set screw, gets you a pretty decent trigger for <$20.

 

While I love my LaRue's, ALG's nickel trigger has been my go-to lately. The best trigger is one you dont notice.

Another satisfied user of ALG trigger and hammer. My AR has the QMS set in it.

I have another build kit coming next week and may go with the ALG ACT trigger and hammer set.

 

Does anyone have experience with the Rise Armament RA-140 in this context? I'm putting a DMR type rifle together and have been looking at the Geissele G2S-E ~$130, and the RA-140 ~$99. Geissele obviously is the bigger name, but I'm finding overall better reviews online of the RA-140 than I am of the G2S-E in particular.

 

I have the RA-140 in my side charger AR. It’s clean and crisp. If I ever get around to getting another scope mount for it, I’ll take it to the range.

 

Larue MBT is great... Just got one here and couldnt be happier. I have better triggers, but not for the price.

Everyone else has said Larue, and I agree.

 

Ordered the 3lb Velocity single stage last night, we'll see how it does.

 

Forget the jp kit. Clip a leg off the hammer spring and bend 20-30 degree angles on the trigger spring legs and get a pretty good trigger for >$1. If you really want to go nuts you can shave down the back of the trigger bar some to let the set screw take out even more of the creep. You will have to take some off the nose of the disconnected if you do this though. But for a dollar and a little time you can get a really nice very little or creep free 2.5-4lb trigger. And if you screw up, you can still go spend way too much money on a drop in aftermarket trigger. I've done several and they all work great. The only real thing to note is that some lowers (Anderson) are not threaded all the way through into the receiver from the grip screw. As long as you are threaded, it's a piece of cake. If not, well, borrow a tap and it's still not hard.

Team this FCG with the aforementioned JP Enterprises 3.5 spring kit and you will be amazed at how good a trigger you have for very little money. Careful assembly and the right lube [Lucas Extreme Duty, for instance] will get you easily into the 3.0-3.5 lb. range.
