I was looking at AR-15 upper assemblies today. Looks like there are a lot of back orders especially for M4 carbine uppers.

Yes, they seem to be selling out fast just about everywhere. I bought one from Midway, had another on my wish list that I was going to get and it was available, but it was sold out a day after I put it in my wish list. The one I bought sold out two days after I bought mine.

At the last gun show this past weekend. I bought another in 300 blackout, while looking at it an older gentleman is looking at a DPMS, knowing nothing about the AR15. He was just wanting one to try out, I saw a little later that he was actually buying it. Uppers, completes, and lowers were selling like crazy. One dealer was swapping furniture around to make the sell on several to people who wanted a particular rifle with furniture that was on another.

For some reason, HQ AR-15 parts are hard to get while run of the mill parts seam to be in abundance.

I myself waited 2 years for my AR-15 upper and am waiting on multiple parts for a .308 build. And have noticed in shopping around that difference in quality/availability. You'd THINK the cheap stuff would be selling like hotcakes and the HQ stuff available if you can afford it. Apparently it's the other way around in this case. Strange.

looks like the low end uppers are way backorderd, looked at PSA,Spikes,Delton,DPMS and midway

2 years for my AR-15 upper

??? I can't imagine what AR15 upper would take a 2 year wait, unless the guy building it dies or something.

Around here you can get about anything you want, a normal wait if you want something very specific but that's about it.

All the big distributors are out of stock on most entry level uppers, and complete AR's. The prices seem to be creeping up slowly as availability decreases also. Hopefully this isn't going to turn into 2008 again.

I've noticed too. Looking to build & Watching waiting for a deal.....dont think one is coming.

I think it has started!

They have certainly dried up in my area also. Local dealer told me that he gets them in during the week and sells out over the weekend. He also told me his last orders would take longer to ship than it had been taking. Apparently, we are in the infancy of another gun run as in 2008.

I'm quite confident that the market will meet the demand as it always does when there's profit to be made. I believe we saw something similar happen a little over 3 years ago when our current president took office. Folks are also getting in their tax returns, so that combination would put a strain on EBR availability. I'm surprised XM193 can still be found with all things considered.

It's an election year, so this is to be expected IMO. Again, there's money to be made and the supply/demand will equalize eventually.

I've been waiting 2 years for my upper as well. Bravo Company 11.5" in a Vltor VIS. I check last Saturday and its in stock, and I just got tax refund! I guess they had one, because as soon as I ordered it went out of stock.

I just bought 10 lowers, and have been eyeballin Palmetto's kits go out of stock during the last week.

Called Stag Arms this morning and was able to get flattop carbine upper assembley. Two weeks for delivery. He said they're very busy.

I don't think this is due to the election, it's because people are figuring out their tax refund and spending the remainder on fun things like AR15s.

The election related shortage will come later this year...

I called bushmaster a few weeks ago, they said "election year" and good luck finding anything. I ordered a RRA upper instead, and it's a 60 day wait.

Hadn't noticed. Seems to me like Ar's and parts are everywhere I look.

i just ordered an AAC 16" upper in .300BLK this morning from bullseye in GA. it just shipped. got two cases of ammo also. good people to deal with.

liontribe

The reason it takes companies like bushmaster and rra is because the customer build your order after you order it..they don't build stuff in advance and they are backed up 60 days..I have no problem waiting cuz I know I'm getting quality from rra

If you are not too picky...CTD offers at least 15 uppers and they are in stock.
