Well I just bought a stripped lower this afternoon and am contimplating which kit to go with. the following link is to AR15-kits.com. Does anyone have experiance with these kits? the guy I contacted said they were all made from either a Colt or FN upper, and Shaw or Wilson barrel. and of course who ever is making the stock, handguard, and lower kit. I still havent decided to go with a 20" or 16" barrel yet, but my main question is, are these kits quality?

got the del-ton midlength upper/kit. Easy to assemble, and very cost-effective. For just 700 bucks, I ended up with a good all-purpose fun gun AR.

I can not say enough about my Del-ton middy. Chrome lined barrel and Ace ARFX E stock on a DPMS lower. Fit and finish is great as well as the color match to the lower. Have about $650 in th rig not including all PMags. Don't think you will find a better kit for the money and with Del-ton upgrades are cheap. Will use them again when I build my two spikes tactical lowers.

I have purchased from M & A on two occasions over the last 6 months and have been very impressed. Both times I called, got a live person right away who was knowledgeable and helpful. Both times I had my stuff within days of sending off a money order to them. Great people, great service. The upper and the kit I have bought all work as they should despite my mediocre gunsmithing skills.

take a look at sherluk.com, they are located in ohio, I have a complete upper from them and have not had any problems at all, they have a complete kit for $425, the guy I talked to said they make most of the parts themselves for quality control.

I have had good fortune with Model 1 sales

These guys make one of the cheapest AR15's you can get. In some cases with manufacturers, you cannot "see" the difference in quality... but in Model 1's case, it is evident the moment you see them.

The last time I knew someone who ordered from model 1, they sent them an upper with M4 feedramps and rifle extensions.

I've never personally known a satisfied customer of theirs.

If you are building one to have the experience of building out a lower, then kit is the way to go and Del-Ton has one of the best reputations out there.

If you are building one to save money and don't care about the actual "building" part, consider getting a separate upper and lower.

I just ordered a RRA lower from Lone Star Wholesale for $220 plus shipping and FFL. Ordered a RRA 6.8 upper from ar15sales.com for $435 or so. Added a weaver gas block for $35. 'Course, RRA has a waiting period at the moment of 8-10 weeks, but for me it will be worth it. Price was in the kit range, but all I have to do is put the upper on the lower and go.

Actually the kits are high quality and have been evaluated by some Police Departments for department use. After the evaluation they have placed orders for the entire department. They also have been evaluated by others and have met or exceeded the expectations required by certified firearm instructors. There was also some use at a state level competition for LE of which the officer placed 3rd first time at the event using a standard setup with optics.
