I was going to shoot my new AR15 22 conversion tonight but realized I don't have a case for it. I used to just toss it in a big hard case I had but that is not real convenient.

Any ideas on a low cost but decent case. I's prefer one that has some pockets for accessories, and will take an AR assembled without the collapsible stock, and with a carrying handle.

I happen to have a small Cabelas gift card but alas all they have is for shorter ones, and kind of pricey.

    Prefer soft case I think.

I have a relatively inexpensive soft case that works great for both my 16" and 20". I'll see who made it.

Any pistol case, but if you wanted to throw the mags in there, might want to get a bigger case. If the mags are separate, just buy a PVC pipe the right size. Glue one end on, the other can be slip-fit. Great way to ship long items too! Glue both ends, but leave some padding on one end and put a "Cut here" note so the recipient can use a hacksaw to get it open.

I bought a MOLLE-covered rifle case similar to this one at a local miltary surplus shop. It wasn't cheap, but it's got plenty of pockets and places to store magazines, holds the rifle in place with pads at the muzzle and butt stock, and has velcro straps that go across the rifle to hold it in place.

Brownell's now has a nice soft case for 3-Gun shooters that holds not only a rifle, but also has space for a shotgun and pistol as well. Might be overkill for what you're looking for, but worth checking out all the same.

As for getting a cheap case, my suggestion would be to buy a quality one, if you can. After all, you've probably got somewhere around $1K tied up in your AR, so what's another $50-$100 for a case that's designed for the gun?

For serious work with a serious AR, I would agree with Justin. For dragging a range blaster back and forth from the range to play, I went cheap, to match the AR. :)

I think I paid about $200 for the parts and about $150 for the lower. The gunsmith that sold me the lower included aseembly in the price of the lower.

It was a ways back. :)

I got this Bulldog case recently, holds 2 ARs up to 20 inch rifle size and 5 mags inside of a padded pocket with a zipper to prevent them from falling out. The case has lots of room, and the side pocket has enough room to hold alot of other things with your mags.
Dont mind the monster cat he likes the case also, he is like having a miniature tiger at times.
    I think it was $59.
