ar15 preban

    what do they mean one the say a bushmaster is preban?

    threaded barrel, bayo lug and probably another thing I can't recall.

    They are called this because during The 94 Assault Weapons Ban which expired in 2004, these items were not allowed.

    Only rifles that were produced "pre ban" could have them. Since 2004, new rifles are allowed to have these items.

    It's a Bushmaster AR that was made before the old expired 1994 Assault Weapon Ba.

    It's worth more money in states like CT and NY that still have an assault weapons ban and allow ownership of pre-ban assault weapons.
