Hello,
I have a Colt HBAR II (carbine) in .223 I would like to know if I can buy a 308 upper for it. Is this possible? and If so, what all do I need? Where is the best place to get the parts from?
thanks in advance,
Robert

nope....

Nope, unfortunately the lower is too small to fit the .308 magazine and vice a versa you cannot have an AR10 and do the .223 route either. You can change out whatever uppers you want for alot of other configurations but the 308 is not one of them I am sorry.

Its not going to work. You could buy a 6.8 upper and the mags for it. And I think that the 458 Socom cartridge will work with the AR15 lower too, but the 7.62 x 51/.308 cartridge is too long.

In fact. Armalite was modifying M14 magazines for their .308 AR.

If you felt like going in another direction you could get a pistol caliber upper for it then buy the adapter and mags for it. Olympic makes uppers in 9mm., 10mm., 40 S&W, and 45 ACP.

Take a peek at their new catalog and you'll see the difference between the AR15 and AR10(.308)
