www.model1sales.com is about as cheap and functional as you can get. I've had good luck with my 24" Varmint setup.

You can expect several people to come deride them any second now.

Whatever you do don't touch Vulcan/Hesse. :cuss:

Anyone have any experience with del-ton? I am thinking of replacing my A2 upper with a flat top.

Also, from the more learned here, How hard is it to swap the parts out of an A2 for a stripped flat-top upper? Del-ton has stripped uppers for less than $100, and i'd LOVE to swap my A2 out for a flat-top, but I have no idea how hard it'd be to swap the parts out. Is this something I could do myself>?

Its not too hard but its also a big pain in the ass plus to do it right your gonna need some actual tools that you have to buy. A set of punches, a block and an armorers wrench would set you back about 100$. You can get an assembled upper half minus the BCG and charging handle for 300$ without having to look too hard and if you just keep your BCG and charging handle and sell your old upper youll likely spend less.

There's no "magic place" to get good deals on used uppers. Ar15.com is the best place, but you have to watch the EE constantly and jump on a deal FAST. I got all the parts I needed to put together a 11.5" upper for under $300 just on the EE, but it took patience.

If there were some place where they were sold cheap, all the time, everyone would be on it like stink on poo and the deals would be gone or the price would go up.
