Yes, I believe they are, unless they changed within the last few years. My 700 270 Winchester was identical (except longer) to the 243 Winchester I gave my daughter.

The only exceptions I can think of are the following.

The 700 ti, is made with a titanium receiver to reduce weight compared to the steel or stainless receivers.

Sometime in the 80's the safety was changed. The older ones locked the bolt down and you had to disengage the safety to unload. New rifles can be unloaded with the rifle still on safe. Of course the new ones also are known to have the bolt open while carrying it in a sling.

Within the last few years they have changed the trigger.

To my knowledge other than length or finish they are the same other than that.

I agree with what's stated above, everything from an SPS action to a BDL is the same, although some might be finished different. And than what was mentioned above about the TI receivers.

I've also heard more than once even the Custom Shop KS receivers are the same, supposed to be hand picked though for assembly?

I have two '06 700's, both blind box magazines, one stainless.
One will lock the bolt in SAFE, the other newer one allows the
bolt to cycle in SAFE.

Yes. None of them are pre 64 M70's

In the mid 80's they dropped the 2 screws on the rear side of the receiver for rear peep sights. IMO that's when they started putting less effort into making them smooth. They used to advertise the "micro honed" actions. Not much honing going on these days in Ilion.

Wasn't there a solid receiver model that was single shot? The bottom where the mag well is supposed to be wasn't milled out and this made for a stiffer receiver (so I've been told or read somewhere). Also, there was a detachable magazine model (or was that just the trigger guard housing modification?).

The detachable magazine models are slightly different on the bottom of the receiver. The solid bottom is the single shot 40x /XP100 or other variation.

Some configurations (single shot) of the Remington 40X have the solid bottom.

The bare actions have basically remained the same over the years other than a couple less tapped holes.

There have been changes to the bolt such as two different extractor designs. Older style riveted extractor was a better design. Newer Remington 700 are not riveted. Ironic part is when Remington improved the 721 722 rifles they changed the problem prone non riveted extractor to a riveted extractor on the new and improved 700. Sometime in the last 10 years they are now using a non riveted extractor again although a different design than the 721 722.

Other changes Remington did to the 700 was around 1997 they eliminated the bolt cutout notch making it more difficult to install a Walker style trigger, bolt lock up. They eliminated the Walker bolt lock up safety around 1980. Some say it is improved designed. Some like me prefer a bolt lock up safety. Because non locking bolt can pop open and dump rounds on the ground if you hit the bolt handle just right on brush.

The 700 trigger unit has had about 3 or 4 design changes over the years.
