Are Dormice hunted/trapped for food in Europe?

Well, I know for certain you can roast and eat a common North American mouse.

Mom did not want me to have a BB rifle as a kid,,,
Consequently when my Dad bought me one,,,
Mom placed a LOT of rules as to it's use.

One of them was,,,
If I killed something with it,,,
I then had to cook and eat the thing.

Mouse tastes better than sparrow,,,
Ask me how I know.

That's one of the best stories ever.

Looking up what Dormice are since I always read that the Romans consider them to be a delicacy, I wonder if some parts of Europe still eat them?

Strange as this may sound, in the UK Dormice are actually protected even through they are pests that are known to cause house fires by chewing on wires...

Are they still eaten?
