Are Navidrex grip panels still the thinnest for a Browning P35?

I know that years ago the Navidrex thin grip panels were the thinnest for the Browning High Power.
At least for a reasonable price. I know they are notorious for needing to be fitted.

Anyway, are they still about the only good deal for thin grips or is there anyone else these days???

Yes I know about Craig Spiegel. I have a set of tiger stripe grip stocks on my 1911 from him.... Hubba-Hubba....

But my P-35 is a 1993 era gun with a dull finish... So I don't see where nice looking grips will help much...

Pretty much the same way I felt when I swapped out the original grips with a set of Pachmayrs. Just couldn't see putting a beautiful pair of exotic wood grips on my Hi-Power Mk.II with it's military grade matte finish. And even with my small hands I actually find the full set of wraparound Pachmayrs to be very comfortable to shoot with.

I don't know how they compare to Navidrex but I have been quite pleased with Hogue G10 black checkered grips for my MKIII. Thinner than stock and much thinner than the classic HP walnut panels.

Gary could you measure yours top middle and bottom for thickness with your calipers? I have the Navidrex measurements around here someplace. Mine is a forged frame MKIII.

I have a higher Grip Per Gun (GPG) factor for my Hi Powers than anything else in the weapon locker. I have yet to find anything thinner than the Navs. With that said, allow me to share that the wood Hogues are my favorite.

Thinner than which stock grips?

Are you referring to the plastic one with the thumbrest like what's on the current MK3s?

They are thinner than the trafitional walnut grips but also thinner than the factory plastic grips. I do not have their dimensions as referenced by another poster.

Navidrex grips have always been the skinniest grips I have ever handled. I have seen guys sand them down even thinner for IPSC. Of course some of those guys don't even use grips - they just stick pull the bushings and stick a piece of skateboard tape on the frame. High speed low drag........

Altamont Grips make some nice patterns of standard thickness in laminated wood and checkering or stippling.
They also make a thin wood grip that measures: Top-- 1.281, Mid-- 1.268 and bottom- 1.250 in.
Although not the thinest they do reduce the girth in a beautiful manner with checkered patterns and woods.

This thread has raised my interest ...again..with grips for Browning HP. I have a MK111..forged frame...with the factory black plastic/thumbrest ...for a carry piece. Also have a standard....high polished/deep blued with adjustable sights...that I replaced the "blocky" walnut factory with Hogue rosewood. Just picked up another MK111 cast framed...with factory plastic. Have been searching for something else....came across the VZ Palm Swell Diamond Back-Black...that sure looks promising...has anyone had personal handling of this VZ product?

This might be worth reading even though the measurements are taken differently.

I just bought some of the Navridex thins. They are thinner than the factory plastic grips with the thumb rest but I wouldn't say that are a LOT thinner; IMO, just enough to notice. There is nothing wrong with them and they feel good to me but, possibly from all the rave reviews Ive read, I'm not overly impressed with them. To be fair, I still haven't shot it with the new Navridex's on it yet and it may be a while. They are flat but I don't get the feeling that I'm holding on to a deck of cards... or a glock lol.

When I was looking at grips to give as a Christmas idea, one of the other grips I was considering was the Hogue G10 that Gary mentioned above. I tend to like the G10 on a pocket knife I have so I thought that Id probably like it for my BHP. Ultimately I went with the Navridex because of price and the amount of positive reviews but I sure wouldn't mind trying the Hogue G10 some day.

I even email Hogue about the thickness/ thinness of them. Their reply was:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at Hogue. If you have plastic grips on that frame, the part #09179 is most likely going to be thinner than the factory. These grips do not have a thumb rest. If you have any further questions please feel free to let us know at any time.

Not really relevant to the Navidrex question, but I have a FEG clone from CDI that I got a few years ago. The old wooden grips that came on it are pretty slim, but one has a crack. I found a cheap pair of wooden grips at Sarco, and bought them (less than $20). They look nice from the side view, and seem to be well made, but are at least as fat as the pachmeyers. They're not rounded either, so the thickness is VERY noticeable, and I just couldn't deal with them.

I just put a line of wood glue into the crack on the old ones and let it sit overnight, and put them back on.

I do not have pics of my Hogue G10s. I am only half-literate when it comes to posting in forums. The pic I sent seems to me to be very close, which is why I chose it. I have some Hogue Rosewood grips also and they seem very similar to the G10s just going by feel. I'm very happy with the Hogues.

That's weird..... I click on the link last night and got a lot more than the one pic I just got on my laptop.

So I fiddled with the web address.... and presto; a lot more pics including some other brands! (non are the Hogue G10 though) http://s932.photobucket.com/user/vmr357/library/?sort=9&page=1

On a side not, I hate photo bucket. Their site is so loaded with pop ups and tons of other garbage running in the background.
