I thought the Saiga guns were banned some time ago and yet I see them available and at decent prices. What's up with that?

What about ammo like Golden Tiger? I thought it was made by Vympel in Russia. Is this ammo made somewhere else or is this the last of it? Wouldn't prices rise if this is it?

Saigas are banned from import, yes. So are Mosins. I believe the sanctions specifically say Izmash (which has now combined with Baikal).

Doesn't mean there isn't a warehouse with a few hundred probably. :)

Discussed partially here

The company that makes Saigas was banned from import, not the actual guns. Other companies exist (vepr?) so perhaps a deal was reached. You could be seeing old stock or used items as well.

The ammunition, not all is made in Russia
Wolf isn't solely an importer of Russian ammo. Their Gold .223/5.56 is from Taiwan and their Match grade .22lr is from Germany

A lot of it gets around import sanctions by coming in via Ukraine, if I'm not mistaken.

I still see tons of cheap TulAmo for .223, 7.62x39, and pistol calibers (including their BrassMaxx 9mm).

As far as rifles... I don't think they are still being imported, but may be coming in via other countries, too.

As USAF Vet pointed out, the Tula ammo and similar items comes out of a lot of places like the Ukraine.

It's such a stupid sanction, a drop in the bucket that doesn't do anything for anyone except limit the number of affordable rifles (Mosin Nagants) in America.

Hey yeah, that's right it does! Ya know, it almost makes one wonder what's the the actual purpose of the import ban...
