Are you: a Shooter who reloads, or a Reloader who shoots??

It seems many of us began reloading to shoot more and slowly "progressed" to become a reloader who shoots.

I enjoy the mechanical aspect of guns, shooting and reloading, and will work a certain gun/caliber in all three of theses areas until I get the combination to shoot to it's best or at least "better than me".

Once this process is complete, I usually move on to a different gun and start over.

I once enjoyed the stress of competition to keep me sharp, but stopped competing when people started showing up with special shoes (cleats).

What other hobby do you know of where you painstakingly build something to perfection and look forward to blowing it up?

Are you; a shooter who reloads, or a Reloader who shoots?

    ...Or somwhere in the transition?

Shooter that hand-loads. I like hand-loading and definitely prefer to shoot my own but I do it so I can shoot more.

Lately, it seems like I don't have as much time to shoot as I'd like - but I can always spare an hour or hour and a half to devote some time to reloading. I'm also fascinated by things mechanical, and things used to produce things mechanical. I'm also fond of the occasional loud boom...

Once I've found the load combination that works well with a particular firearm, I usually lose interest in it.

I'm a Shooter who reloads because if I didn't reload I wouldn't be able to shoot as much as I like due to costs.

    Thanks for the reponses...so far

Just to expand a little bit on the question:

Is a shooter who reloads most always someone who competes in orginized shooting events?

Not in my case. Only match I ever shot in was as a cop 35 years ago.

I shoot to shoot, load to load, and have fun at both. Plus, if I go in the basement to load I don't have to watch what the wife has on TV.

If I have the time to shoot, and the weather is not favorable...reloading comes a close second.

Nothing like the satisfaction of churning out perfectly crimped shotgun shells, or shiny new handloads with bullets that you have cast yourself.

One of the reasons I enjoy muzzle-loaders is that essentially every shot is a reload

    Shooter first

If ammo was free, and I could get any caliber I need, I'd just shoot.

    Same here!
The hobby seemed to fit well with what I was already good at, so here I am.
    :)
I started out reloading so I could shoot more often...now I think I shoot just so I can take the empties home and start over.
    LOL

Well, since I get the chance to reload far more often than I get the chance to shoot.....I guess I'm the latter.

Seems a good many of us shoot to reload & reload to shoot.

I started off reloading for the obvious reasons (cheaper & pride in workmanship).
But I've come to look forward to reloading bench time as much as range bench time.

Hmm, there are some days I don't feel like reloading--usually if I'm pressed to load rounds for an upcoming shoot. There are very few days I don't feel like shooting.

I guess I'm a shooter that reloads ( and I compete), but I do enjoy reloading--when it's by choice and casual.
