Ya gotta love Arizona. Over 300 days of sunshine, the bluest skies, star filled nights, warm days (I’m in the higher elevations), cool nights, gorgeous sunsets;
BUT BEST of all you take a CCW class on a Saturday, mail the paperwork that Monday and have your license by the end of the week!!!

I've been in Sierra Vista since February. The state has its problems, but it's a beautiful piece of earth and the people are pretty easy to get along with. Most, especially in the smaller towns, have an independent attitude I like, and the carry laws are decent.

My wife's cousin lives in Sierra Vista.
We see them every couple of years when visiting other relatives in Tucson.
Great state,great people,great scenery and as gun friendly as you can find in most areas.OC ,which us Floridians have no option.

It is Arizona's gun laws: Open carry, freedom to protect yourself and property, and CWP law is why I live here.

I'm in Tucson - I've had my CCW since early 2001. Never fully appreciated how gun friendly this state really is - took it for granted, I guess - until I started researching California's gun laws. My wife and I are moving to San Diego next year when I graduate from law school. I am APPALLED at the state of CA's gun laws. All I can say is enjoy AZ's laws; take advantage of the opportunity to carry practically anywhere; and take action to oppose any legislation that may restrict the gun freedoms we currently have.

I'm sure you wouldn't leave AZ otherwise.
But San Diego is a wonderful city with the most laid back residents on the planet.
I lived in La Jolla and still remember it,Coronado and all the wonderful beaches and weather.
Don't worry about checking on the forecast:80%,clear skies,breeze at 10 mph every day.8 inches of rain per year.
Go to Alpine to escape the monotony.
Almost forgot.Balboa Park and the best Zoo in this world.

I came out here three years ago. The only things I don't like are high taxes and endless, interminable road construction. But the gun laws are just about unbeatable, especially coming from California.

Your permit took much less time to arrive than mine. It took almost three weeks from the time I mailed the paperwork.

Arizona is a great place to live and own guns. Rust is virtually non-existent if you take even the most basic of care, prices are low, and the people remain empowered.

Thats nothing, Ohio.
Went to the Sherrif's office on a saturday, Had my Permit that Monday.
No Classes, No Fees.

Showed them my Army training certificates and my Active duty CAC card, and they waived the fees and accepted my Mil training as equivalent training.

I love Arizona. I was born here. I'll probably die here many many many years from now, peacefully, in my sleep, on a cool night in April with a nice breeze gently blowing in through the open window.

Arizona is my home even though I don't live there now. I sobbed when I left.

Open carry is one of its best aspects, however the ccw is not as good as it should be. Even though I now live in a Stalinistic Northeastern state, my ccw is easily better than Arizonas and probably better (as in least restrictive) than every other state in the union.

I would trade it though to move back.

How so?

The one negative I have seen is the BS restriction on carrying anywhere that serves alcohol. This is probably supposed to keep guns out of bars, but also extends to restaurants that serve beer and wine, even though I am not drinking. That could be better. It is not like Nevada, where you have to register your carry gun(s) right down to a physical description and serial number and live fire qualify separately with each one.

As I understand it and correct me if I am wrong but schools are off limits in AZ. That is a major restriction in my line of work, but not one that I face now.

Mine took 10 days and we can carry in bars and casinos. I do like AZ though and if we had to move it'd probably be to somewhere there.

It is not like Nevada, where you have to register your carry gun(s) right down to a physical description and serial number and live fire qualify separately with each one.

There are no more serial numbers on the permit. You still have to qualify with each semi-auto but any revolver qualifies you to carry any revolver. The only handgun registration is in Clark County - none of that or the stupid blue cards where I live (near Front Sight).

Did I mention we can carry in bars and casinos?

I am not LEO. So Arizona, as much as I love her, is a notch down-ccw wise-compared to mine that I attained here behind the Iron Curtain.

If that changed I believe an AZ ccw would rival any.
