Don't hear much about this brand in the same manner as Colt, Daniel Defense, BCM, etc. For anyone who owns a recent Armalite, how's the overall quality and accuracy?

Mine arent "current", the two I have are "ban era" rifles. AS M15A4"T" and a M15A4 "C".

Both came with pinned on brakes, which Ive replaced with flash suppressors.

Function and accuracy have been great. My only complaint with both is, they will only take GI or Colt spec mags. P Mags or anything not sized to GI specs, either wont fit in the mag well, or are very tight and have to be removed by hand, and wont drop free.

My M15A2C is circa 2005 and has been a fantastic carbine. I've never had a malfunction that wasn't attributable to crappy/damaged magazine that choked my other ARs. Accuracy is perfectly acceptable for what it is, about 1.2 MOA with good ammo, a bit over 1.5 with M193 or M855. No problems with P mags or other polymer magazines seating, feeding & dropping free.

It has also been reliable with every suppressor I've screwed onto it, even though it still has the stock front sight base and stock size gas port.

Armalite uses (or at least used to use) a patented, proprietary bolt that has a reduced lug opposite the extractor. This actually makes the bolt less likely to break lugs than a standard one with all 7 lugs engaging, as it causes the 6 lugs to share the load more equally, while a 7 lug bolt will stress the lugs on either side of the extractor more.

They have had 2 owners since Mark Westrum owned the company. I don't recall the name of the 1st owner after Mark but he tried to market the gun and there was a TV shooting program that was sponsored by Armalite. I have not heard much out of the current Armalite. I know they moved to Arizona and finally have their web site up and running. They are asking premium prices for a company that has yet to prove they are worth that much money. I would like them to prove me wrong and convince me they are worth the money they are asking.

I have 2, 1/9 twist Armalite complete uppers and a 3rd Armalite barrel on an Aero Precision upper. They are accurate barrels and great shooters. If the new owners follow the leadership philosophy of Mark I think they can bring their reputation back. Their current prices and too many questions about their long term reliability are holding them back.
