Have the opportunity to get one with the 32 inch barrel. Should I?

What would the Pro's and cons be? I do reload, and do have some experience with BP.

I have the Pedersoli but haven't heard any bad about the Armi, If you watch the pressures my Pedersoli says stay under 29,000 cup there are a lot of fun loads both BP & smokeless that will shoot well in it. I like the 405 & 500 gr bullets use the 405 as plinkers.
Just my .02 cents both there is more steps to loading BP then smokeless, I use 5 dies for BP and 3 for smokeless. Hodgdons webstite has some nice loads in smokeless. I even load 11 grs of unique behind a 405 bullet it is super accurate and zero recoil.
Good powders are Varget, IMR 3031, AA 5477 & 4579 but there are more do some reading.

5 Dies? Even with a seperate crimp and trim I can only think of four. Please do let me know. Plank to shoot both BP and Smokeless, unfortunately am limited to Tubal or VV powders, nothing else is available. Simillarly for BP am limited to the French PN or Swiss.

I use a Dillon 550 it has room for 4 dies.
Die 1. Size, decap also reprime
Die 2. Has the Spencer Wolf case expander tool.
out of press for powder
Die 3. Has Spencer Wolf powder compression tool
Die 4. Seat bullet but no crimp

Switch tool heads for Die 5 its a Lyman taper crimp to finish round.

Tom, Interesting.
I plan on shooting 400 grain bullets, almost exclusively with BP.

Any special instructions on loading? Does on still use a felt pad? Cous Cous?

If you want to reload for a trapdoor you need to read the book "Reloading Cartridges for the Original 45-70 Springfield Rifle & Carbine"

You will find it pretty useful for any black powder loading for any gun.

Here is the home page for the book

I use a .062 veggie wad over the BP then compress, for the 405 gr bullet I use 70 grs I use a drop tube for that then compress the powder just shy of the bullet seat depth, say .08 or so then when I seat the bullet to the proper depth it finishes the compression, I haven't had any problem with the bullet nose being damaged.
BP is fun just takes a little more steps to load.
