Armscor enhanced 1911

I just bought one of these last night. It has ambi safeties and novak style sights. It seems like it could have some potential. I'm pretty sure they make the Charles Daly 1911's. I got it for $369 before tax and transfer. I have to wait 10 days here in cali so I can't shoot it yet. So does anybody have one and what do you think? Mark

I don't have one with the Armscor name but I do have a Charles Daly (and you are right, the Charles Daly line is made by Armscor). I don't know if Armscor does anything extra for the gun marketed in their name, but I'm pretty sure they don't (though being without the huge Charles Daly rollmark would be nice- too big).

Anyway, my Charles Daly is after they upped the quality but before the "enhanced" models. I have over 5000 rounds through mine and I am completely happy. Between being happy with my gun and the enhanced models are nicer than my gun (the fit and finish is improved, the sights are better and the gun comes with decent wood grips instead of the ugly plastic which I replaced) I am very tempted to buy another. If I do I may go with either the stainless or, more likely, the compact so that it will be a bit more different than the one I already have.

Anyway, I think you'll probably be very happy with your new gun. Just be warned, if they are anything like the guns marketed under the Charles Daly name the mags that come with the gun will probably be junk and in need of replacement right away. However, at least for me, once the mags were replaced it became a very reliable gun.
 
armscor 1911A1

I own an Armscor 1911A1. The hi-cap model (13 round-magazine).

I know the family that owns and runs Armscor (the Tuason family). I belong to one of their gun clubs.

Well, the "Armscor" name doesn't have the recall or tradition of , say, the name "Colt" or "Browning"; but their products are computer-manufactured from quality steel, and are perfectly serviceable. The barrels and magazines are imported from Italy - I believe from Fratelli Tanfoglio. If you want more snob appeal in a gun , buy a Colt or Browning or something like that. But an Armscor works just fine. It will put a bullet into a bad guy or a target just as well as a Colt or a Browning.

Enjoy your Armscor. Learn all about disassembling etc. the Model 1911A1 as you use it. In the longer run, should you desire to get a more "known" gunbrand for bragging rights, save up your dollars- maybe $700 to a thousand - and there will still be plenty of time to get one.

For home defense, I will buy an Armscor shotgun. Armscor makes shotguns, rifles, and ammunition, as well as pistols ("Charles Daly". "Rock Island", and "Armscor.")

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Chaim, I already have a kimber so I have good mags and a holster. When I bought this gun I wasn't really looking to buy anything but I picked up the armscor and it had good barrel to slide fit. The slide fit well on the frame too. The guy behind the counter let me dry fire it and wow it had a good trigger. The sights are black on black novak style also which I like better than dots. Now the only thing is this store has a warehouse and that's where my gun will come from not the one in the case so I have my fingers crossed. Mark
 
I just handled one this afternoon!
The asking price was $350, Lots of features for the money, IMO. If its as good as my CD I won't mind getting one myself (I paid $380 for the CD)! But I really don't want another 1911 right now. My CD has been a great shooter, I'm happy with it.
 
Could be that these are the modern day Norincos. Nobody wanted them at first until people realized how well made they were.
 
Well, I had planned on giving the 1911 another try this year. Every time I was close to getting a Kimber or a Springfield, I'd always find something wrong with them on the forums just before picking one up. Looks like I might try the cheap route and give Armscor a try.
