Armscor Guns

I recently saw Armscor brand guns and they were very inexpensive.

A new 1911 just a tad over 400,i guess prolly the cheapest new 1911 possible.


Are Armscor guns crap?decent?average?

Does Armscor make guns?Or more like EAA just imports them?

Armscor enjoys a solid reputation with their Rock Island Armory line of 1911s. From what I've seen they're very nicely built and have alot of "custom type" parts.
I was going to order one for myself for ****s and giggles.

I believe Armscor is the actual manufacturer, based in the Philippines. They are closely allied or the same as Rock Island who also make budget .45 ACP 1911s. Armscor also produces the budget frame and slide used in STI's Spartan model. They have a USA support center in Nevada and one of their reps is very active on several boards, goes by the screenname 'blackdragon'.

Quality is generally better than you would expect for the sub-$500 price tag, with that said, don't expect Kimber, Springfield, or STI fit & finish. I owned one of their now discontinued double stack 1911s, a 9mm Para P18 clone. After about 2500 rounds it got very unreliable and was eventually returned for good to their customer support center in Nevada. It was unique, with it's own external extractor and other wierdness.

If I were to buy another, I'd be much more comfortable buying one of their standard .45acp 1911s which used standard parts. Their 1911 single stacks also seem to run a hair wider than other 1911 frames.

Armscor builds the Rock Island Armory 1911s. Armscor, until recently built the Charles Daly 1911s. They do make 1911s for a number of other brands, whose names at the moment escape me.

If you get one of their 1911 clones then you're good to go.

They're fine pistols, I have three Rocks, and there's a huge and growing loyal following for them. They're having trouble keeping up with the demand. Small wonder, nearly the entire line is under $400, except for their Longslide Match. They offer a 5" GI, a 5" Tactical, a 3.5" GI (Officer), a 3.5" Tactical, a 4" GI Midsize (Commander), and a couple of 5" GI's in .38 Super. And folks are clamoring for them to come out with 9mm in all sizes.

The Armscor brand isn't imported into the US anymore, but grab it if you find one for sale. The customer service people at Advanced Tactical in Pahrump, Nevada are second to none in taking care of their products.

I believe the rest of us were just responding to the original poster, not contradicting your reply. Although redundant, several forum posts that say the same thing help to establish some consensus or credence. (Helpful since these forums are essentially anonymous and although you may be knowledgeable, your 'hags' userid and signature line really don't distinguish your response anymore than advice from some 14 year old mall-ninja-extraordinaire)

Saw a new RIA Tactical at the Gun Show this morning. Price Tag $400.

ARMSCOR and Rock Island Armory is a family business. The son owns RIA.

just came from an armscor facility last week. they make good basic 1911s and supply STI with some frames. sarcoinc in NJ sells them for 330 in the lowest model.

I own a Armscor compact 1911 45acp. Brand name is High Standard. I have always felt that the lower priced models were something to stay away from but after reading several boards concerning this brand, I decided to give it a shot, so to speak.

I ordered my compact and received it almost 2 weeks ago. I have fired almost 500 rounds since then. I am retired, reload and live where I can step outside the back door and let go.

I have had 3 FTF's (failure to feed) and they were 230gr RN that I reloaded almost 20 years ago. I found them in a box in the storage room and decided to get rid of them. Out of 150, only 3 were bad.

I have fired recent reloads, factory loads, hot loads, light loads, pretty loads, ugly loads and this pistol have been operating flawlessly.

Will I get 10K rounds out of it? Who knows but in the meantime it is a dream to shoot.

Over at CenterFire they have the RIA Tactical Commander for $420 which is by far the best price for this gun with all the bells. If only I didn't have so many.........

What is the relatiionship between ARSCOR and Tanfoglio...

Have seen several 9mm's (MAP1MS, FS) selling in the $350 range, that are supposedly 'manufactured' by Tanfoglio... for ARMSCOR?

Anyone familiar with these guns and the relationship... and their quality?

armscor is a philippine firearms and ammunition manufacturer. tanfoglio is an italian firearms manufacturer. they both knock-off other manufacturer's firearm designs. for example, they both have their own versions of the CZ-75. Armscor makes the MAP1 which is imported under the RIA name, and Tanfoglio pistols are imported by EAA.

a filipino friend of mine who i shoot with made me drop my jaw yesterday btw... he took my beat up 40b... and with an NRA 50 foot bullseye target (6" diameter) he made a 1 inch group! i crapped my pants! of course, this really means the charlies, deltas, and mikes are all MY fault! dangit!

Don't be so dismissive, I've had several people shoot my Kimber TLE and RIA Tactical side-by-side and none would agree the Kimber was ~2X better to match the price differential.

A fellow at our club was shooting a new Springfield Loaded stainless and having issues, we did a gun swap to see if it was a shooter induced problem (turned out to be his gunshow relaods) and when he handed my Tactical back he asked "is that one of them high dollar guns?"

My oldest RIA is well over 13000 rounds so they hold up well too.
