Looking at the 308 AR's for a lot of reasons.What has been your experience with the Armalite ,DPMS and ?

I have an Eagle Arms AR10A4 in .308 with a 20" stainless barrel. It has been a reliable, accurate rifle which will shot sub MOA with my hand loads.
I also have a 20" Armalite stainless upper with a brake. I really don't care much for the brake and will most likely remove it one of these days.
FWIW, I can see no difference in accuracy between the Eagle Arms and the Armalite barrels.
The magazines are pricey but it's a one time expense. My rifle came with the standard 86 lb trigger which I replaced with a RRA two stage. That was the only modification I've made aside from adding a bipod stud.
Bullet shape and OAL are critical for reliable feeding in this rifle. Once you have settled on a certain load or brand of ammo, it will perform quite well.
They can make excellent foul weather hunting rifles. I mounted a TA-11 ACOG on it and used it to take an elk last fall.
The only difference between Eagle Arms and Armalite is the warranty. Eagle Arms warranty is a one year warranty and the Armalite is lifetime for the ORIGINAL OWNER. The warranties are not transferable and are voided by the use of reloads.
If you like the AR platform, try one in .308. You'll like it.

I have an Armalite AR10A4 with a 20in SS BBL and it's now my favorite rifle. I put a Simmons AETEC 2.8-10x scope on it, and it will shoot sub MOA with my handloads. It also loves the South African surplus ammo. I bought this rifle as hunting/fun/homeland security rifle and I could not be more happy with it's performance and suitability for these purposes. This season it brought down a nice 8-point whitetail and a coyote for me. If you are even considering getting one, do it!
I purchased an AR10T its a good rifle. Armalites quality control sucks at the moment. Go to their board and you will see tons of questions on how to get their rifles running right. Mine ran right except the trigger liked to fire 2 rounds for one trigger pull. I sent it in twice to no avail. I finally replaced it with a KAC trigger now the gun runs fine.

I have an AR10-A4, DSA-STG58,a SA M1-A and a Remington 700 LTR. Of the whole bunch the Rem. 700 is the best shooter, at 100 meters it will put five rounds into a single hole almost. Of the rest, the AR10-A4 will shoot minute of angle groups out to 400 meters then it starts to open a bit. I have a Simmons Aetec 3-9 on the Armalite mount. their mount is pricey but in the end well worth every penny, remove and it returns to zero evey time. Hunting loads are, FACTORY- Winchester ballistic tip 165 gr. or my loads with the Hornady A-MAX. I fell into a pile of 20 rd. factory Armalite mags and they function flawlessly. I have an Armalite 5-rd. mag and i's not worth a s**t. If you load more than 3 rds. it will shoot the first round over the top of the carrier, jamming between the carrier and the inside top of the reciever. I sent it back to Armalite and they sent me a new one, did the same thing, exactly. Other than that I have nothing but great things to say about Armalite. Don't forget, there are varmint bullets for the 308Win. I have some 110grn Vmaxes loaded up currently waiting to be tested in my AR10 A4.
My 20in A4 with chrome lined barrel manages to hover right around MOA when using my handloads firing the 165grn Nosler Balistic tip. I suspect that the groups are opening up to MOA as I push for 5 shots as I have had many many 3 shot groups hovering right at 1/2 inch. Gonna freefloat the barrel eventually with something like the ARMS SIR handguards and see if accuracy gets more consistent and possibly even improves.
AR10s typically don't like exposed lead spire tip bullets, they tend to jam on the corner of the barrel extension. Needs a sharp pointy tipped bullet closely shaped like that of a fmj bullet to feed reliably. My AR10's fit and finish is very nice with a rock solid upper to lower fit.
I'm using a B&L Elite 4000 6-24x scope in an Armalite mount on it right now so it's primarily being used as a target or varmint rifle at the range. Hopefully the 110grn Vmaxes will do nicely from it, I hear the 125grn Speer TNT's ROCK from these guns but I have yet to have a chance to try those.

I've got an AR10 built on JP Enterprises,
Notable are the the free-floating handguard, lightweight (0.700" and smaller diameter), muzzle comp, and match single-stage trigger. For 3Gun-type stuff, I use the ACOG. For precision, I slap on a Leupold 4.5-14X M1. It'll shoot about 0.7MOA groups with either.

AR-10A4, it is effective on anything you want to, or need to hunt in N. America.

I would have to disagree. Its a bit light for the big bear in my part of the country. Maybe in the new 300 Remington Short mag. But I would rather have at least a 338 mag for that or a 375 H&H being better still.
