That searchable database is frightening. The anti-gunners are rabid about the "legitimate" need for firearms ownership, but really, what legitimate need is there to post this information? I can see absolutely NO good coming out of it.

The argument that people have a right to know if their kids are going to a house with a gun is nonsense. First; only a small fraction of gun-owners have licenses. Second; its not the people with LICENSES that you need to be afraid of. Third; a parent who doesn't know the host parents is NEGLIGENT!!! At the very least, go and meet them to see if they are someone that you trust with the life of your child.

Dixie, the database has been disabled.
It was compiled by the Tennessean from public record. It was not built by the state.

I don't know why the people that run the paper were stupid enough to do it to begin with, but it seems a bunch of folks wanting their heads on a silver platter has been "educational" for 'em.

No matter though... I'm sure we're all on a "list" of some kind, somewhere.

Might as well be the list of people that aren't unarmed sheep, as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Anyway... don't let the newspaper's foolishness keep you from getting your permit. After all, the more of us on that particular list, the better.
