Been a while since I took my Mossberg 930 out to the range loaded with 00 buckshot. Put a bunch of gallon milk jugs around the pit and then fired... distances were from 10 to 25 yards. If you aim (and I have a red dot) you WILL hit with several or even all 9 rounds. Those jugs went a flying all over the place. Some went up in the air 10 feet. There is some weird satisfaction a shotgun can give you that a regular rifle just cant :D:D:D

PS Think that if I only had one rifle in a SHTF situation it would now be a shotgun, not my AR15....

Here is a link to an interview with Louis Awerbuck (kind of the shotgun guru). I have trained with him

There is something special about blowing a 40mph flying disk to smithereens at the drop of a hat. I do love me some shotguns... :)

Agreed. Superior to any handgun for home defense. Wide variety of ammo types makes the shotgun versatile enough for damn near any practical use. If I could only keep one gun it would probably be one of my scatter guns.

I love wing shooting and shooting my shotguns, even shoot those tough clay things informally now and then, just hard on the teeth, cook up tough as nails. I keep one in my bedroom while all my rifles are locked up....but I always thought of myself as a rifleman. Never used a shotgun for deer, always a rifle...or a pistol. Then, again, I love my carry guns, kinda stick out in the mall with my shotgun. "Brandishing" they call it. Hmm, who knew?

IOW, every tool has its proper uses. :D I don't limit myself to one firearm. Then again, I don't do the BOB end of the world zombie thing. I don't believe in zombies.

I'm glad to live in a country where I can own all sorts of guns. As much as I like my hands guns and my rifles, I do love my shotguns. When the "shots hit the frisbees" ;) my 12 gauge will be at my side.

I have more shotguns than anything else. I love them for all the reasons above. Id give up every other gun except a good pump gun.
