I would like a buttstock rimfire ammo carrier for a rifle I have. One is made for the Ruger 10/22 but, not haivng a 10/22, I don't know if it would fit the stock on my rifle. If someone could measure the circumferance of a 10/22 buttstock and let me know what it is, I'd appreciate it.

IWAC,

It's not a 10-22 he's carrying extra ammo for.
He wants to know if the ammo carrier for a 10-22 would fit.

I looked at the the buttstock carrier you had the link to and while it's certainly a novel idea for carrying extra .22 ammo, I would think it would be a bit tedious and time consuming filling (and then emptying), those 72 cartridge loops. I would just as soon carry a box of 50 rounds in my pocket.

Ok, got it.

At the butt plate: 10 3/4 inches around.

7 inches in from that: 7 1/4 inches around.

Thank=you.

The rifle in question is single shot; a T/C Contender with a walnut thumbhole stock. It's a gun I use to shoot various pests day and night so it would be handy to have a supply of ammo with the gun as at times my clothing consists of a bath robe or perhaps underwear (my neighbors are far enough away that no one knows or cares).

I agree, for what it is, the price is a bit ridiculous. I would shop it a bit and probably wouldn't fill all the cartridge loops. My question is why anyone would get one for a 10/22 when you can get pretty large magazines for them.

Ah, now I see the reasoning behind your inquiry. If I were going to carry spare ammo on my 10/22 I would probably see about having two 10 round mags in a pouch and attaching it to the butt stock; sort of like the two 15 round mag pouches they had for the M1 Carbine.

Thank=you.

You are welcome.

I like your idea. Sometimes you don't want to go through all the preparation and hassle of getting a box for your pocket, etc.

I have had a similar set up on a Winchester 94 that I once carried for years as a truck gun, and my HD shotgun has one on it's buttstock.

Don't let the detractors get you down just because they are unable to understand your particular situation.
