A local GS has a used stainless Astra compact 40 cal. for $350. Looks very clean-has night sights. Don't know much at all about Astra's, what is ya'lls opinion? How about the price?

Astra

from what i have read-Astra merged with Star-now called Astar. And yes-it looks just like the 9mm that sold for 223.50-so $350 sounds a little high. I'll keep looking.

This is true.

But ASTAR has no presence in the USA and doen't sell firearms or support older Star or Astra firearms here.

FWIW, the 32 Edition of the Blue Book has a 100% A-75 listed as $295. So that seems a little high. In general, I've been pleased with Astra autoloaders, but haven't shot that particular model.

The Astras and Stars are good quality guns, but went bankrupt in Spain's last financial crisis, so parts and spare magazines will be getting increasingly hard to find.

Good guns, just realize that their manufacturer went bankrupt and out of business about 10 years ago, so there are no spare parts etc.

Mine has always been good. The South African RAP-440 is almost exactly the same (except the decocker also works as a safety).
