Happily surprised to see this. It's probably at other links as well but youtube popped me the one on Guns & Gadgets, so here you go. If you're not interested in Jared's commentary, you can turn it off after he reads Dettelback's resignation letter aloud.

What a weasel. Just say "I hereby resign effective noon on Jan 20."

Instead he feels the need to lie and suck up to a president in the advanced stages of dementia who probably won't even notice he is gone.

I prefer they resign rather than being fired, but Trump firing a bunch of these clowns would be ok with me too.

You're absolutely correct about "still time...." Many years ago, I spent a fellowship year in Washington watching at close range. One of the things I learned was that nothing happens without a reason and that reason carries consequences. There is some reason that these creatures are resigning. It's more than simply rats abandoning a sinking ship with 20 days still remaining. I don't know what that "reason" is and we common folks out in the sticks may never learn, but that issue of "still time..." combined with the devious nature of these beaucrats is enough to cause concern. We'll just have to wait and watch.... and hope.

He set a new record for bringing charges against honest FFL holders, and at the same time he set a record for losing more court cases than any previous director! So no surprise a facist anti gun director would choose to leave before he got the axe from Trump.

Dunno, Brandon Herrera might be a good choice, too :D

At least he know how to field strip a Glock :)
That’s among the funniest things I have ever heard that are well within the realm of possibility. I think it’s a good idea to have somebody knowledgeable on the topic at hand as the chief of that department. He certainly would qualify for the alcohol and firearms portions. Not sure about the others.

Dettelback's resignation is no big deal.

I have read it's routine for heads of various federal agencies (appointed by the previous president to follow the policies of the previous administration) to turn in their resignations (so the incoming president can appoint heads to follow the policies of the new administration).

But I do remember some news organizations tried to portray Obama admin resignations after Trump defeated Clinton as some kind of protest when it was actually routine.

The biggie will be who Trump will pick.
