ATF Proposed Frame/Receiver Rule Comments

Unfortunately yes. I suggest everyone go read through the comments and see for themselves. And you are correct that we are our own worst enemy at times. Too many FUDD's saying "who cares, it doesn't effect me any". What people do NOT realize is that this proposed rule change effects every gun owner, not just the 80% builders. The rule changes will require any and all replacement parts even for Fudd's favorite bolt action rifle to go through an FFL for purchase.

Where exactly are you guys reading the comments? Are they already public somewhere?

They're public on the comment tab.

The individual comments aren't that important. It is the statistics on them that are critically important. For vs. Against, details or what aspects, groups vs. individuals for or against.

Yes but I’m not seeing an overwhelming majority of antigunners as one of the posters said. Where do I find evidence to this claim?

There are SOME anti-gun posts there, my hunch is the vast majority are in fact more pro-2A // even though (sometimes there is no pleasing some folk) there weren't enuff like, millions. Of which there NEVER is, i know AS A FACT that they (gov) use a multiplier to best-guess how many ppl do or do not support.

The after - action next step was, is, and always will be legal challenges and attorneys do not work for free. Find out who has the best court challenge going through the friendliest court and send them MONEY. And my guess is FPC or GOA.
Otherwise, just fold up the tent and whiney all the way back to the house & blow your noses, rest of us will fund the lawsuit you're welcome I suppose.

And a lot of the comments were for the proposed changes. Moms Against Guns and other gun control groups posted a lot of comments.

20 state Attorney Generals have sent a letter opposing the frame/receiver rules changes.

We are still fighting agains other state AG's that are for the changes along with all of the gun control groups.

Where do you get that a lot of comments were from antigun groups?

From Ghost Gunner-

The new rule has NOT yet gone into effect. Now that the 90 day comment period has closed, the ATF must still publish and review all relevant comments. The timeline ahead looks like this:

  • ATF may take two to six months to publish a final rule
  • This final rule will itself set a new timer for when it goes into effect
  • The industry will have the chance to sue and halt the rule change

Keep in mind that while there may be a lot of comments, IIRC those are lumped together by similar type. Moms against Guns tend to use boilerplate so they might make a few thousand of the same complaint, yet, it will count as the one. On the other hand, so are ours - thats where we needed to specialize in a wide variety to increase the number. I suspect we did, as we are far more knowledgeable about the subject than our opponents.

This was done most recently with at ban on 5.56 a few years back and it was soundly defeated. Now, it once again remains to be seen.

Be reminded that as long as it's going thru the process with a two way conversation then we are working within the law and all is well.
