Everyone should understand that the power mad Marxist Socialist Fascist inspired Democrat liberals and RINOs, never, ever, disengage.

Their eventual goal is to completely disarm all worker peasants in the United States, other than their own personal bodyguards, criminals, and the elitists.

There is an old saying, "Life is hard by the yard but it's a cinch by the inch."

The gun confiscators long ago learned they could not confiscate our firearms all at once, so they began going after them inch by inch by inch by inch. They've never stopped, and they'll never stop until they achieve their eventual goal of instituting their Great Brave New Marxist Socialist Fascist Police State Utopia, in which all worker peasants are equal.. but some worker peasants will be more equal than others.

Remember, inch by inch by inch by inch by inch.......

The best way to stop this stuff is for gun owners to actually get INVOLVED. Bitching about it on the internet won't do much but if you spend 1/2 an hour talking to the various reps and at least getting your opinions recorded then it has an impact. I just spent my lunch hour calling all the sponsors and members of the executive committe for the Illinois law and asking politely to speak to someone about the bill. Turns out that the executive committee meeting in Illinois has now been cancelled.

I'm under no illusions that we've stopped it or other gun control measures but if every hunter and gun owner in Illinois would spend their lunch hours calling their reps everytime they pulled this stuff then I think it would go away. The biggest problem we have as a group is that people would rather try to stockpile ammo or buy the guns they want before they're banned than to do something about it. (I"m as guilty of this as anyone)

The Illinois law is particularly troubling in that if you've stockpiled say 2k of 7.62 x54R in anticipation of shooting your mosin over the next 4-5 years then you're screwed because you have to turn the ammo in to the State Police as it's not micro-stamped. It's also troubling in that if you're a reloader and think you'll get around it that way then you're out of luck.

I found I had some traction at the various legislator's office by pointing out the "anti-green" nature of this law. Since reloading wasn't allowed there was no incentive for the various components (lead, brass, etc.) to be cleaned up and reused.

Just my .02

Dave

OK,

Little digging and poking and I think we have the culprits.

The core legislation document was written a person called Briahna Taylor for the law firm Gordon Thomas Honeywell.

As if by magic one of their clients is called Ammunition Coding System.
www.ammocoding.com

This appears to be a shell for a company called Ravensforge LLC

Ravensforge inventors or record are Mr Steve Mace of Seattle, Washington and Mr Russel H Ford also of Seattle

As if by magic they have a patent pending for this magical system

It is very interesting to see that as part of their About Us mission statement they boldly state that the implementation requires legislation.

Interestingly enough they also intend to charge a licencing fee for EVERY bullet sold as well.....

I would suggest that the folks in each of the legislations where this is being pushed pass this info onto the relevant political persons whith questions such as.

This legislation is only being pushed by a single vendor as a commericial enterprise. In effect using the legislation as their sales force (without paying them......
This system is proprietory and with patent pending will lock out any other provider
The system has not had any validation, peer review etc
The system will act an inherent restraint on interstate trade
The information provided via the system will contain data that is generally regarded as PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and as such has legislative protection
Due to it's nature the system may broach 5th amendment self incrimination protection.

Play nicely now......

Thanks for the info - that sheds a whole new evil light on the entire plot. And here I thought it was just the elitists who wanted to be my Nanny & take my ammo away - it turns out that there is a profit motive as well.

Mods - Anybody think this belongs over in activism?

We should start a thread for this in activism, and make some sort of concerted effort to defeat this bill.

As it stands, I think this thread is more for discussion and speculation.

> it turns out that there is a profit motive as well.

Yep - thanks everallm - there is nearly always a profit (or power) motive with the political agendas. Why would anyone in their right mind want to be a politician these days except for those two vices?

Part of this is the antis see a great chance at having both the Prez and Congress after the elections and may start flinging more crap like this at the wall, expecting to be backed up by the new overtly anti administration.

Get this stuff in now and it will be years until it gets to the Supreme Court which might, due to turnover, be more inclined to step on the 2nd.

Excellent idea. I've started this thread in activism for that discussion.

Someone posted on another forum that the patentholder on the ammo serialization technology, Steve Mace, is the same Steve Mace who is a moderator at the GunsNet forum. Can anyone confirm or deny this claim for me?

Anyways, this same scheme has been proposed in Washington state as well. Here is a cut & paste of an alert email:

WASHINGTON STATE PROPOSSED HANDGUN AMMO BILL

Ammo Serialization (Registration) Bill Proposed in Washington State!
Please Contact Your State Legislators Today!

Legislation has been proposed in Olympia that poses a very serious threat to our Right to Keep and Bear Arms and it needs to be stopped immediately.

House Bill 3359, HB3359 sponsored by State Representatives Al O’Brien (D-1), Brendan Williams (D-22), Dennis Flannigan (D-27), and Jamie Pedersen (D-43), would require that all handgun ammunition manufactured or sold in Washington to be coded with an individual serial number, and entered into a statewide database at the time of sale. Encoded ammunition would be registered to the purchaser and would include the date of transaction, the purchaser’s name, date of birth, driver’s license number, and the serial number of the ammunition.

This dangerous bill needs to be stopped now. HB3359 only serves to harass law-abiding gun owners, as criminals are not likely to purchase ammunition through legal channels. Please contact your State Senator and your State Representative today and respectfully urge them to oppose HB3359.

I listened to an interview last night (Feb 19th) on Cam & Company NRA News (still available to listen to until tonight Feb 20th @ 5pm Pacific time) at nra.org) & the guy who has applied for the patent does not even know how it would be implemented - he said he would leave that up to "the experts" to determine although he already applied for a patent & plans to charge a per round licensing fee. Incredible.
