Techbrute....DON'T get the Romanian....I've heard some rough stuff about their accuracy (like an AK is accurate) and their sights are real iffy at best. I tried out Hawk's Yugo SKS and that thing ROCKS. It's heavy as any rifle I've ever seen though, could be that reenforced milled reciever. NOBODY has those friggin Saiga's in stock. If I get one, I'm thinking of a 22 incher in .308.

CZSteve:

You are more than welcome to sling lead with my SKS. I know you wanted to have a run at it last time but we ran out of time. I have got about 500 rounds of 7.62X39, so this should not be a problem.

TB,

That's a good idea. I am generally pretty open to what dates we pick, just have a particular date I CAN'T use. Maybe the poll would be better if it asked "What date works worst for you" so we would pick the one that the fewest people have a problem with.

I know it's a subtle difference, but am I making sense? :)

We should have a poll over wether or not to have a poll.:neener:

Techbrute...VEPR's are awsome...they are also the most expensive AK type of rifle....figures you would get one.:cuss:

I wanted one of those:banghead:

okay...jeleous rant over.

Well, you're one of the reasons I started considering them. However, you were talking about spending $300-$350 on some other AK (Saiga?) and then doing all this work to it so that it has some of the characteristics of the VEPR. Maybe I'm way off on my numbers, but $350 for the rifle, plus $100 in parts, and you're only $100 away from getting an actual VEPR. I've also heard that the finish and other cosmetics are much nicer, so if you add $$ to refinish it and such, it's a wash.

Actually, I don't really want an AK, I'm only getting one to piss you off. :neener:  :D

The only weekend in April not good for me is this coming weekend. I have to go down to the lease and shoot me some varmints

I'll be closing the poll for the April shoot tomorrow evening. Everybody weigh in.

Are we decided on Gibson's for the venue?

Hey GeeGee! We should probably get the Tiger Valley details nailed down with TJ. We don't want to lose the weekend that we prefer. Right now it's pretty close in the poll on Yahoo that we set up, so whoever hasn't voted ought to jump in and vote ASAP.

I'd say 05.23.04

That's what's ahead in the poll, and that's 4 weeks from the previous shoot. That will give everyone enough time to recover from the April shoot.

Anyone with dissenting opinions, speak up ASAP. We need to secure the date with TJ.

Geegee,

I don't want to volunteer you for any actual work, but since you've taken point on this so far, maybe you could handle this:

I propose that the $35 fee be paid by the April shoot date. This way we'll have a definate head count, and if someone doesn't show, we'll still be able to have the class. If you're serious about coming, pony up the cash. I think this will help us avoid any wheel spinning that may occur.:D

Oh yeah, I'm totally in.
