Auto Ordnance M1 carbine

Anybody has any first-hand experience the Auto Ordnance (now Khar) M1 carabine ? Mine had to go back to the factory after only a few hundred rounds. It'll be at least two more weeks before I get it back. Should I just tell them to keep it and refund my money ?

M1 carbine breakage

After 300 rds. of FMJ I started running soft points to verify that they would work reliably. After 10 rounds on the first SP mag, I had a failure to feed. Removed mag., tapped mag against my hand to seat the rounds properly, reinserted, pulled the charging handle and continued firing.

On the second (15 rounder ) mag, had another feed failure. Started to remove mag, looked down and bolt was locked open. Hmmm. Removed mag, bolt slammed forward, reinseted mag, went to pull charging handle and it wasn't there.

After makind the weapon safe I looked around and found the broken-off piece of the charging handle. I would guess that it jammed the bolt open and when I removed the mag. it fell clear, releasing the bolt.

Just plain broke off ! Not a clean, even brake, but jagged and irregular. From the finger groove probably about an inch and a half of operating handle. I wonder if this is just S. . . Happens bad luck, or crappy manufacture/quality contols from AO.

What do you think ?

Failure to feed, or cycle? Mine had the gas block crack, went back to the factory and came back working. Haven't been able to put more than a few dozen rounds in it since.

I've got approximately 3000 rounds through mine since I got it 18 months ago. It's functioned fine and continues to do so. I'd let them fix it and see where it's at.

don't have an AO, but i do have an IAI Carbine.

had some "issues" at first, misfires mostly...last time i took it out, it ran good.

i think it just needed a good cleaning...polished up the chamber a bit and added some grease. seems to be working fine now.

I've put about 500 rounds of FMJ through mine, so far no problems/failures.

AO M1 Carbine

Well, thanks. Looks like I might've got handed the unusual " Lemon ". Once I get it back I'll share the results here. I'm expecting that it'll work FUBAR-free for at least 10,000 rds.
