AWB's accomplishments in ten years

As far as I can see, here is the record of the AWB's accomplishments.


1) Spike in sales of assault style weapons...both right after the ban started, and another coming right after the ban has ended.

2) Millions of gun owners jolted into awareness that yes, many in the government really do want to take your guns away.

3) Crushing electoral defeats for antis (translate: mostly Democrats) in the House, Senate, White House, Gubernatorial races.

4) Gains in political power for the NRA and other gun rights groups.

5) A new-found determined outlook of "never again" amongst gun owners.


What am I leaving out of this list?

The dozens of sub-compact pistols we now have to choose from thanks to the 10 round limit...
 
People forgetting the value of an accurate rifle with beutiful wood.
People having to fight to make sub-standard magazines function properly.
Drasticly increased intrest in military style arms and history.
Drastic increase in the number of C&R 03 FFL holders.
10 round 1911 magazines.
10 round rifle magazines for rifles which previously only held 3-5.
That's just off the top of my head.
 
Hm... when you put it that way, the ban hasn't really been all that bad, has it? Thanks, Di-Fi! :neener:
 
Well, you see, the more the gov makes "verboten" the more the people long for it and go around a law, treating them as serfs. Never, ever Americans drunk that much alcohol than during the prohibition. The only effect of the prohibition was the production of badly corrupt politicians and organized crime.

The prices on the "during" ban rifles were dropped by 100 bucks when I was in the gun store this evening :D
 
Don't forget all of the concealed carry laws that were enacted in the 10 years since the ban.

I would love to see just how much this has increased. I bet its impressive. Years ago i had never even heard of the C&R FFL but, now i know a lot of people (including myself) that have them. I think the AWB has made people pay some attention to those old war horses again.
 
The Fallout......

Getting the Dem Majority out, getting the 'shall issue states' in, small ten round pistols, ten round .45 mags, but the best of all.....
was having John Kerry beside himself showing where he really stands!!!
And seeing the Hysterical Brady Lobbiest giving himself ulcers on CNN talking about our grenade launchers (have not seen 40m/m value packs at Walmarts lately, have you?)and full auto driveby's that are about to be come the new American Pasttime.
Funny....at anytime during the ban, one could get an AR or AK and real magazines legally(in most states). And the criminals could get whatever they wanted, illegally. And crime went down.....probably more to armed citizens exercising their CCW rights. A rather nice deterant when you do not know who is packing!
Good bye to BS...that is about all I can say.
God Bless America..one of the last places we can get such impliments!
So, what goodies are going to come out for us to play with next:D
I am hoping for an HK USC with a 25 round UMP mag and folding stock myself! And Some 25 rounders for the pair of 10/22's that grace my household! Perhaps a Choate folding stock for one of 'em?

I think that has more to do with our other big victory ... the spread of Shall Issue CCW :D



(side note ... this is my 2500th post! ... I need to get a life :neener: )
 
Ditto the rise in Shall_issue laws, but alsom a general loosening of state laws, (other than Cali, Mass or NJ), and agaian the new crop of excellentCCW pistols like the CZ RAMI and PO1.
 
Prior to the AWB, a lot of small Law Enforcement agencies simply told their officers to supply their own pistols. Officers used the pistols they liked and were comfortable with.

During the AWB, LEO-marked magazines could only be purchased by agencies, not by officers. Since agencies didn't want to buy three Walther P99 9mm magazines for Officer Smith, only to be stuck with the mags when Officer Smith got hired to a different agency and replaced by Officer Jones, who didn't have a Walther, but did have a Steyr M9 and could he please have some magazines...

A lot of smaller agencies decided to go the Big City Route and supply a mandatory pistol that their officer were required to carry.

Not a Good Thing, in my opinion. Hopefully, now that the AWB has died, the agencies will go back to the old days of officers bringing what they were good with.

Probably not, but I can hope.
