Hey, congratulations Marine!

I was a scribe too, at Parris Island. Later I became an 0341, Mortarman.

Good luck and Semper Fi

Just be glad you aren't humpin' a morter tube. :D

We 0311's "volunteered" to help out the mortermen who needed it during the forced marches. Those baseplates get HEAVY.

I too did a fare bit of helping out with baseplates and let me tell ya what, the worst part about um is that their just so cumbersome and theirs just no good way of holding or carrying them. The 81 mm baseplates that is, the 60mm plates wrent as bad.

The Arrow of Time Flies Only Forewards

That is, had I the gumption to behave differently thirty years ago, I hope that I would have done what you have done. (Or attempted it, at least)

Can't go backwards, so I send you my most earnest congratulations, knowing you'll be going forewards from now on.

Hey -john!!!!!!!

Shucks .... nearly missed the party! I was out shooting bowling pins this evening and only just got to see this thread. Welcome back dude ---- can it really be four months .... heck!

It was good to get your reply letter and in fact ... I wrote you again - lemme see ... maybe 3 to 4 weeks ag - so no knowing where that got to!

Glad you made it thru and many congrats ... excellent! :)

Chris!!!!

I was so glad to hear from you. Any mail is great, but mail from people who aren't related to me is somehow special. Every time I read your letter I got a smile on my face. I'm still on the edge of my seat about that ammo test you were telling me about. :)

PS A Marine earns 30 days of paid leave a year, and cannot have more than 60 days at any given time. "Why should I care", you ask? Because it means I'll be taking vacations a lot, and one of the things at the top of my list is visiting some of the THR folk. Would it be rude of me to ask you to show me and my lovely wife around the shooting scene there in scenic PA sometime?

Oh, and congrats on being made a mod. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving member.

Thx for the comments John ...

Rude? Heck no! I would be well pleased to do so John - assuming of course you can make it this far East! All you need do is give me some warning and appraisal of your schedule - the rest should be easy.

Just PM me .... I'll all but guarantee to set up some fun shooting, as long as weather clemency permits. :)

carebear...

Congratulations and thank you for volunteering to serve.
I have much respect for the Men and Women who serve at Pendleton (and everywhere), they've lost many recently.
I also miss the ones from Tustin and El Toro who used to fly over my house daily.

Congratulations Marine, and Semper Fi.

Boy do I remember MCRD, in some ways it seems like yesterday, and in others a lifetime ago.

Thanks for your service (even if you are just a Marine :) )

Congrates Devil dog.
Seems like just yesterday I was graduating bootcamp, here it is 11+ years later Im a SSgt and still having fun.
Time will fly by, remember to have fun, as long as it is fun it isnt just a job. If you stop having fun it will be time to call it quits.

If you get stationed at pendleton, and get base housing you can store firearms in your base housing just not in the barracks. In fact military members can get a California Assault Weapons Ban exeption and can bring a banned weapon in state (I found this out after I sold my AK preping for orders back out to pendleton)

Balog, I haven't the words to express my gratitude to you for taking a most important step in assuring ours...and your......freedoms.

I pray for your safety and His guidance in the months to come.

I also wish you well and I wish you success in your military achievments.

SALUTE
